Requested move 10 March 2024

[edit]
The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

The result of the move request was: not moved. Consensus that the spelling difference of Labor vs. Labour would not be sufficiently distinct to justify the use of WP:SMALLDETAILS, and thus that the proposed title would be incomplete disambiguation. Democratic Labour Party (Australia, 1980)Democratic Labour Party (Australia) – I had the current page name as the suggestion when the split discussion opened like 9 months ago - but @ITBF brought this up, I think it'd be fine and easier if we reverted to the new party name (note that the original DLP never spelt it "Labour") without the year Totallynotarandomalt69 (talk) 23:54, 10 March 2024 (UTC) — Relisting. – robertsky (talk) 02:18, 23 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Democratic Labour Party (Australia, 1980)Democratic Labour Party (Australia, 1978–present) – or Democratic Labour Party (Australia, founded 1978). According to the article, the party was founded in 1978, not 1980. The party has continued to exist up to the present time, which may be better described by "1978–present" rather than just 1978 alone. — BarrelProof (talk) 18:58, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose, think title is getting way too long there but would support Democratic Labour Party (Australia, 1978) Totallynotarandomalt69 (talk) 12:21, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Is the WA party actually a copycat?

[edit]

From the WAEC Online Disclosure Dashboard, the WA party had two donors: Hugh Dolan for $54,650 and the Frank McManus Foundation for $10,001.

The Frank McManus Foundation appears to be strongly tied to the DLP. And a Hugh Dolan has run as a candidate for the Victorian branch. The disavowal of the WA branch also seems to be fairly recent:

I could understand them being embarassed at the new name the WA branch used, but they don't seem unrelated. James (talk) 09:07, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
