United States

[edit]

Doesn't this exist in the US, or Hollywood anyway, too? In fact isn't that the biggest form of it even?

Or should the US form be called "suburb bashing" rather than "suburbia bashing"? Or is it just concern that too many articles are US-focused? (Which I don't think is really true. When accounting for population size I think Britain and maybe even Canada are possibly better represented on English Wikipedia than the US)--T. Anthony (talk) 23:20, 30 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

While there's a 'bashing' of suburbs in America as well, it's a distinctly different thing, as Australia has a different definition of suburb that encompasses most of the country's residential population. Suburbia bashing is therefore more about the common Australian lifestyle/identity than the specific type of neighborhood. --60.242.53.214 (talk) 22:42, 11 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I will eliminate the sections on racism and Urban sprawl

[edit]

I will eliminate the section on racism.  It has nothing to indicate that racism was different in suburbs, or urban sprawl, than it was anywhere else. Julian in LA (talk) 19:38, 16 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The Urban sprawl section says nothing useful and has no footnote. Urban sprawl is not limited to the two areas mentioned.

I am also eliminating the first paragraph under "environmental issues", which currently has the comment "clarification needed." The citation is to the first page of a journal article which says nothing about "sprawl." It is a survey article whose most relevant sentence says, "Collectively, the studies have shown that habitat loss is the most prevalent cause of species endangerment, with non-native species ranking second." It does not blame "habitat loss" on urbanization specifically.

I am also eliminating the reference to President Roosevelt. He is not mentioned in the cited article.
