The article currently states that she assumed office on June 2, 2022. That's factually incorrect. The official results of fhe June 2 election haven't even been certified by the Chief Electoral Officer yet. And in any case, unless the winner was also the incumbent, then they don't actually assume office until they've been sworn in as the Member of Provincial Parliament. 24.212.139.99 (talk) 13:21, 3 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
As I explained to you on your talk page, there are several reasons why Wikipedia cannot concern itself with the technical distinction between "elected" and "sworn in" in the first couple of weeks after an election.
Firstly and most importantly, an MPP's official swearing-in date is completely unsourceable, because the media do not report that as news and even the legislative assembly's own website does not provide that information at all. So if we insisted on the distinction between "elected" and "sworn-in", then we could never add any start date at all, because how can you add a swearing-in date if you have no way of ever finding out what swearing-in date to add?
And secondly, Wikipedia has to be extremely careful in how we write about events which are in the imminent future instead of the distant future, simply because we cannot guarantee that all of the new MPPs articles will always be updated promptly when that future actually arrives.
So Wikipedia simply does not concern itself with the strictly temporary distinction between "elected" and "sworn in". We use election day itself as the start date of an MPP's term, and we do not concern ourselves with the very short-term and temporary technicalities of status. Not my problem that you're too stupid to grasp that it's impossible to "track" if absolutely zero sources exist at all to track it in because even the government does not publish the information at all, and it is not my job to take your insults. This works the way this works, the way this works is that the date of the election is the date that goes in term_start=, and you're perfectly welcome to go shake your fist at a cloud if you don't like it. Perhaps the fact that Donald Trump was still the incumbent president between those two dates, while Toby Barrett was not still the "incumbent" MPP anymore after May 3, might clue you in to why the way the US presidency works is irrelevant to the way the Legislative Assembly of Ontario works?
