10th Anniversary of the Agenda 2014
[edit]Added the missing info about the 10th anniversary of the Greek government's "Agenda 2014" for the integration of Albania into the European Union, proposed back in 2004, which coincides with the granting of Albania its EU Candidacy Status. --SILENTRESIDENT 16:50, 24 June 2014 (UTC)

Expand
[edit]The article needs expansion. I do not have the time to do so, but a few things to be added: public opinion in Albania, position of international organizations/other countries, financial and political help by the EU etc, each of them on seperate sections. Ktrimi991 (talk) 16:10, 6 February 2019 (UTC)
- Also, to clarify and ping @Eu6:@Khirurg:@Dr.K.:, the content on Tsipras is OK as far as it is placed on a separate section dedicated to the position of international organizations/other countries on the accession of Albania. Ktrimi991 (talk) 16:29, 6 February 2019 (UTC)
- In addition, use relevant sources instead of a Wikipedia link. Ktrimi991 (talk) 16:30, 6 February 2019 (UTC)
- That seems to me like a good suggestion. Dr. K. 16:38, 6 February 2019 (UTC)
- I agree as well. Now it's in a more sensible location and somewhat fits. I did change the source from a Wikipedia link to the actual news site. --Eu6 (talk) 02:38, 7 February 2019 (UTC)
- It's fine now. Khirurg (talk) 18:15, 6 February 2019 (UTC)
Study on Religion
[edit]@Resnjari I actually managed to find the study at IDMAlbania, so my bad for being too quick to revert.
They conducted a survey on 1,600 Albanian people, and, regarding opinions on Albania joining the EU, the study does mention perceptions of unfair treatment by the EU towards other Muslim-majority countries, but the report does not explicitly state overall opposition or hesitation to Albania joining the EU.
This is the only related thing that is said in the study:
Statement: EU has been unfair with countries in the Balkans with a considerable Muslim population (Albania, Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia)
43.9% of the respondents agree with the statement, while 41.7% of the respondents disagree. Compared to 2018, when 27.7% agreed with the statement, there is an increase of 16.2 p.p. in the proportion of respondents that agree that the EU has been unfair with countries in the Balkans with a considerable Muslim population.
So I guess you can agree that it would be incorrect and misleading if we said: "study found that a large number of Albanians hold the view that the EU wont accept Albania as a member", since the study does not make that claim. Illegally 14:28, 23 February 2025 (UTC)
- @Illegally:, I appreciate you finding the report and i went through it. The part you highlight is interesting and may warrant an addition on how Albanians from a Muslim background perceive EU interactions with Albania. In Erebara's news article he wrote [1]:
- The report underlines that although religious extremism is decreasing in Albania, many Albanians believe the European Union is unwilling to let their country join in because more than half of the population are Muslim. (Italics are mine)
- In light of what has been presented, Erebara may have meant (?) the second part of the sentence as his own conclusion in addition to the report. Its not clear though. This has made it complicated if at all how to render that information in the article. My reason for including it years ago and now is Albania's population over a decade ago was majority Muslim, now a minority, but still its biggest religious affiliation. How its adherents perceive the situation is important information for the demographic factors outlined. Maybe there is more research done on this topic. If its done, its something to look out for.Resnjari (talk) 15:16, 23 February 2025 (UTC)
