Lead Text
[edit]Just skimming through the article. Lead says
While the Kukis limited themselves to house-burning,[67] the Meitei mobs in the valley, mobilising in thousands, engaged in wanton killing of Kuki civilians living amongst them, including students, officials, soldiers and even legislators.[68][69]
It is contradicted in the very next line -
According to Reuters, 77 Kukis and 10 Meiteis died within the first week.[40]
The statement is quite editorialized as is, the citation doesnt exactly support the characterization - What is stated in wikivoice was a statement that the newspaper attributed to one person. Any suggestions? Captain Jack Sparrow (talk) 01:58, 4 March 2025 (UTC)
- I am open to suggestions. While the fact that the Kukis gave "safe passage" to Meiteis has plenty of sources, the fact that they didn't kill any civilians wasn't widely covered. In fact, what happened in the hills is relatively unknown becase the Imphal-based media (both local and national) didn't receive much information from the hills.
- The seeming "contradiction" is presumably because there were clashes between rioters from both the sides causing casualties. This happened at the very beginning of the conflict as well as in the succeeding days. It is the killling of innocent civilians that is being described in the paragraph. I think good weight can be placed on the source since he was from a third community and himself engaged in relief work. So he can be taken to be knowledgeable. -- Kautilya3 (talk) 09:15, 4 March 2025 (UTC)
Wrong information

- Elaborate. Don’t just say vague things. Wikipedia is not a forum Flyingphoenixchips (talk) 14:22, 21 April 2025 (UTC)
Opinions
[edit]I was considering expanding the section talking about N Birens involvement… by mentioning the audio tapes that were leaked. Opinions on this.I also feel this incident in itself merits a separate wiki article Flyingphoenixchips (talk) 14:22, 21 April 2025 (UTC)
- Please feel free to expand the section. The central government's role should be addressed too, but more in terms of omission rather than commission, I think.
- Meanwhile, I will mull over the idea of a separate article on the factors behind the violence. -- Kautilya3 (talk) 16:03, 21 April 2025 (UTC)

Suggested Image Insertion
[edit]Add this image to the **"May 2023"** section (or Government response):
This is an original photo taken by me and uploaded to Wikimedia Commons under a free license: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:IAF_transport_aircraft_over_Lamphel_During_2023_Manipur_Violence.jpg
It illustrates the airlift of forces during the initial unrest and provides historical context for the deployment of the Indian Air Force and central forces.
Thank you! AshTheEdito (talk) 11:42, 18 July 2025 (UTC)
- Helloo Ash, thanks for your work. Unfortunately, this image isn't focused on the violence, the main topic of the page. I don't think it adds value to it. Please see if you can find images of the actual violence. Thanks. -- Kautilya3 (talk) 10:12, 19 July 2025 (UTC)
Not done: As above. Closing edit request. SI09 (talk) 18:46, 20 July 2025 (UTC)
