"Senagun (Persian: سنگون, also Romanized as Senāgūn and Sangūn; also known as Şenūgān) [1] is a village in Dehdasht-e Gharbi Rural District, in the Central District of Kohgiluyeh County, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province, Iran. According to the 2006 census, its population was 357, in 81 families.[2]

Etymology

The name Senagun is of Persian origin, and its exact meaning is not widely documented. It has been recorded with different Romanized spellings, reflecting variations in pronunciation and transliteration.[3]

Geography

Senagun is situated in the western part of Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province, a mountainous region known for its rugged terrain and natural beauty.[4] The village is located within the Dehdasht-e Gharbi Rural District, which is part of the Central District of Kohgiluyeh County.[5]

Demographics

According to the 2006 Iranian census, Senagun had a population of 357 residents, distributed among 81 families.[2] The village is part of a predominantly rural community, with agriculture and livestock farming being the main economic activities.[6]

Economy

The economy of Senagun is largely based on traditional farming and animal husbandry. Residents engage in small-scale agriculture, producing crops suited to the region’s climate, as well as raising livestock for dairy and meat production.[7]

The village is home to a mix of traditional Persian and local tribal cultures. Residents observe regional festivals, and many still wear traditional attire, reflecting the heritage of the Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province.[8]
