Sardar Vallabhbhai Global University (SVGU) is a private university located in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. Established on 20 April 2023 under the Gujarat Private Universities (Amendment) Act, 2023 (Gujarat Act No. 7 of 2023), SVGU operates from the Chimanbhai Patel Institutes (CPI) Campus situated on SG Highway. The university offers programs in Management, Computer Applications, and Journalism and Communication at undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels.[1][2]

History

Sardar Vallabhbhai Global University was established as a private university under the Gujarat Private Universities (Amendment) Act, 2023. The Act, notified in The Gujarat Government Gazette, added SVGU to the list of private universities in the state.[3] The university commenced operations under its new title from the academic year 2023, integrating the existing programs of the Chimanbhai Patel Institutes into its academic offerings.[4]

SVGU offers a diverse range of academic programs designed to equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills to excel in their respective fields. The programs are structured to provide a holistic understanding of the subject matter, integrating theoretical knowledge with practical application.

Undergraduate programs

  • Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE): A full-time 4-year program that includes topics in Computer Science and Computer Engineering. The curriculum covers programming, algorithms, data structures, computer architecture, operating systems, computer networks, software engineering, and emerging fields like artificial intelligence and machine learning. The program follows a semester pattern, with a total of eight semesters, and is designed as per the guidelines of the All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
  • Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) / BBA in Hospitality and Hotel Management (BBA-HHM): These programs aim to provide knowledge and requisite skills in different areas of management such as Human Resources, Financial Management, Entrepreneurship, Information Technology, and Marketing Management to give a holistic understanding of a business system.
  • Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA): This program is designed to equip students with the necessary knowledge, skills, and values to become successful professionals in the field of computer applications.
  • Bachelor of Arts in Media and Communication (BAMC): A 4-year undergraduate program that grooms the next generation of media professionals for their holistic development to adopt global standards of the media industry. The program is designed as per the University Grants Commission (UGC) norms and directives under the New Education Policy 2020.

Postgraduate programs

  • Master of Business Administration (MBA): The pedagogy includes case study methodology, live group and individual assignments, role plays, games and simulations, lectures, self-assessments, and field studies.
  • Master of Computer Applications (MCA): This program aims to ensure that graduates are well-equipped with the necessary knowledge, skills, and values to become successful professionals in the field of computer applications.
  • Master of Arts in Media and Communication (MAMC): Launched under the aegis of SVGU, this postgraduate degree program aims to groom the next generation of media professionals to adopt global standards of the media industry
