Luv Ka The End (transl. The end of Luv) is a 2011 Indian Hindi-language teen romantic comedy film directed by Bumpy in his feature directorial debut. Produced by Ashish Patil under Y-Films, a subsidiary of Yash Raj Films, the film stars Shraddha Kapoor and Taha Shah Badussha in lead roles. It follows a teenage girl who, after discovering her boyfriend's true intentions, devises an elaborate plan with her friends to get revenge on him before their graduation.
The film was released on 6 May 2011 and marked the first production of the Y-Films banner. It received mixed-to-positive reviews from critics, who praised Kapoor’s performance and the film’s youthful tone, though some noted its similarity to Western teen revenge comedies. Luv Ka The End was loosely inspired by elements from the American films Wild Cherry (2009), John Tucker Must Die (2006), and John Green’s novel Paper Towns.
Kapoor's performance in the film earned her the Stardust Searchlight Award for Best Actress.
Plot
[edit]Rhea Dialdas, a confident and optimistic teenager, has just graduated from junior college and is in a relationship with Luv Nanda, a charming and affluent boy. She dreams of a future with him, unaware of his ulterior motives. Luv is secretly participating in the "Billionaire Boys Club" (BBC), an online competition among privileged young men who earn points by recording and uploading intimate encounters with women. Luv is on the verge of winning the year's title, needing only one final video—of himself sleeping with Rhea on her 18th birthday—to secure the top spot.
Rhea initially plans a special evening for her birthday, but before it begins, she learns the truth about Luv’s intentions through a friend’s older brother. Heartbroken and enraged, she decides to take revenge with the help of her younger sister, Minty, and her close friends. Together, they plan to systematically dismantle Luv's image, ego, and status.
The group sabotages Luv’s prized possessions and public image. Rhea ruins his luxury car, interrupts his date with a rival girl, Natasha, by tricking her into eating laxative-laced cupcakes, and spikes Luv’s drink, leading him to publicly perform an embarrassing dance routine at a bar while dressed in drag. The girls record the incident and circulate it, leading Luv’s friends to believe he is gay. They also use his stolen credit cards to buy provocative merchandise, planting it in his room to further damage his reputation.
At a party hosted by Golu, where pop star Freddie Kapoor is performing, Rhea lures Luv into a room outfitted with hidden cameras, intending to expose him. However, Luv discovers her plan and attempts to restrain her. Rhea escapes, disables him with pepper spray, and publicly denounces the BBC, declaring it officially shut down. She delivers a pointed message about empowerment and retribution, earning cheers from the crowd.
Following the events, Natasha forgives Rhea for earlier actions, and the friends attend Freddie Kapoor’s concert. Afterwards, Freddie offers them a ride home, expressing interest in Rhea. She smiles and tells him to call her. In a mid-credits scene, Luv is confronted by his friend Timmy, who jokingly claims to be gay and jumps on him—part of the girls’ extended plan to humiliate Luv further.

Critical reception
[edit]Luv Ka The End received mixed-to-positive reviews from critics in India. Performances by the lead actors, particularly Shraddha Kapoor and Taha Shah Badussha, were generally praised for their confidence and screen presence. In contrast, other critics were more reserved. Nikhat Kazmi of The Times of India gave the film 2 out of 5 stars, writing that it "scores only in some of its performances (Kapoor’s gang) and might appeal to young collegiates who want to miss a few boring tutorials."[7] FilmiTadka rated the film 1.5 out of 5 stars, criticizing its lack of a strong script and calling the song “Mutton” vulgar. Anupama Chopra of NDTV also awarded it 1.5 out of 5 stars, calling the film’s sensibility “juvenile” and expressing confusion over the film’s intended demographic.[8]
