Lord Buddha Koshi Medical College and Hospital (LBKMCH) is a private medical college and hospital established in 2012. The college offers the MBBS (MBBS), MD (MD), and MS (MS) degrees, as well as nursing and paramedical courses. It operates associated hospitals in the Northern Bihar region. The college is affiliated with BUHS and is recognized by the NMC.[1] The undergraduate student intake was 150 in 2024, following recommendations and guidelines from the NMC.
History
[edit]The college was conceived by the Lord Buddha Siksha Pratishthan, a registered society of (Buddhist Minority)[2] under the Society Registration Act of 1860, Government of Bihar. It was founded by Dr. P. K. Singh in 2012.
The institution was founded with the aim of improving healthcare accessibility and providing medical education in parts of Northern Bihar.
The institution conducts community health initiatives, including health camps, awareness programs, and outreach services.
Affiliation
[edit]The college was previously affiliated with BNMU until 2022. Following registration in 2023, LBKMCH became affiliated with the BUHS.
Academic Programs
[edit]The institution offers undergraduate and postgraduate medical programs, including the MBBS, MD, and MS degrees, along with nursing and paramedical courses. Admissions are based on NEET scores and participation in the Under Graduate Medical Admission Counseling (UGMAC) process.
For nursing education, the Lord Buddha Koshi Nursing Sansthan operates under the same trust, offering programs such as the B.Sc Nursing.
The institution has received recognition from the Government of Bihar for its services under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana.[citation needed]

Location & Accessibility
[edit]The college and hospital are located along National Highway 107 in Baijnathpur, approximately 10 kilometers from Saharsa. Saharsa Junction railway station is about 8.2 kilometers away.
Facilities
[edit]The college campus covers over 35 acres. Some infrastructure is complete, while other facilities are under development.[4] The college includes Clinical & Para-clinical Departments, demonstration rooms, research labs, and a museum.[5]
Hospital
[edit]The hospital provides outpatient and in-patient facilities with 638 beds[citation needed]. It includes an ICU, surgical theaters, and 24/7 Emergency & Casualty Services. Government health programs like DOTS, Malaria, and Filaria are available. The hospital serves as a healthcare provider for the region, including rural and underserved populations.[citation needed]
