TBH Comics is an independent comics publishing collective founded in 2023 in the United Kingdom. TBH is an acronym for To Be Honest, reflecting the founders desire to produce honest comics, with no alternative meaning or political messages, just old fashioned story telling. The Co-Founders of TBH Comics are Daniel Butcher, Damian Edwardson and Kieran Squires.
Founders
[edit]- Daniel Butcher - Creator of Vanguard (one of the UK longest running Superhero web comics) and Vyper, artist on Green Archer Comics The Clock and co-host of The Awesome Comics Podcast.
- Damian Edwardson - Creator of the Galaxy Grappling Alliance and member of Art92 creative studio.
- Kieran Squires - Creator of The Drycleaner and artist on The Hammer, Green Archer Comics Cryptid Hacker Force, SRG Universe's Supershow: The Comic and inker for Heroes for Causes, a charity based comic company.
Publishing History
[edit]After a few successful experimental books were published through crowdfunding platform Kickstarter, TBH Comics launched it's first title under a rebranded production line, called Grim Scary Tales. Grim Scary Tales was an anthology book that contained contributions from the founders themselves as well as other artists and writers. The successful funding of the book through crowdfunding and post sales led to the release of the Grim Scary Tales: New Nightmares the following year, setting up the annual release schedule for the franchise. In between, TBH Comics also released Kill The Bride and The Drycleaner, both successfully funding on Kickstarter.
Grim Scary Tales
[edit]The anthology book was successfully funded in November 2023 through the Kickstarter platform. It was a 56 page black and white comic with covers by Daniel Butcher, Damian Edwardson and Ian Ashcroft. The book contained 8 stories in total.

Grim Scary Tales: New Nightmares
[edit]The second anthology book int he series was successfully funded in November 2024 through the Kickstarter platform. It was a 32 page black and white comic with covers by Daniel Butcher and Damian Edwardson as well as a blank sketch cover option, and contributing art by Steven Ferriday The book contained 5 stories in total.

The Drycleaner

The Drycleaner was a 32-page black and white, action/comedy comic created by Kieran Squires and successfully funded on Kickstarter in April 2025. It was edited by Daniel Butcher with covers by Kieran Squires and Daniel Butcher. The Drycleaner was also added to the Awesome Comics Podcast Recommends[1] list shortly before release. |

Future Publications
[edit]The third installment of Grim Scary Tales is slated for release in the last quarter of 2025 with possible contributors including Daniel Butcher, Kieran Squires, Clifford Cumber and Dan Charnley. Superhero drama DMR (working title) is also slated for spring 2026.
