Sino-Pak Center for Artificial Intelligence (SPCAI)

The Sino-Pak Center for Artificial Intelligence (SPCAI) is a research center based at Pak-Austria Fachhochschule: Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology (PAF-IAST) in Haripur, Pakistan. Established in 2019, it was approved under Pakistan’s Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunications (MoITT) to strengthen research and development in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its applications. SPCAI operates as an academic and research institution, focusing on AI-driven solutions for various sectors, including healthcare, robotics, energy systems, and data science.

History and Establishment

[edit]

The SPCAI project was initiated in 2019 following the approval of PC-1 by MoITT, Pakistan. The goal was to establish a dedicated center for AI research in collaboration with academia and industry. Since its inception, the center has developed multiple research labs, introduced postgraduate academic programs, and collaborated with national and international institutions to advance AI research and applications in Pakistan."Sino-Pak Centre for Artificial Intelligence by Dr. Arif Mashkoor". Pakistan Observer. Retrieved 2025-03-27.

Research and Academic Programs

[edit]

SPCAI offers Master’s (MS) and Doctorate (PhD) programs in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science. These programs emphasize research in machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, robotics, and the Internet of Things (IoT). The curriculum integrates theoretical foundations with hands-on research in AI applications.

The center also conducts training workshops, seminars, and conferences to promote AI education and research collaboration among students, faculty, and professionals."SPCAI Newsletter" (PDF). PAF-IAST. Retrieved 2025-03-27.
