Shaswat Kumar is an Indian martial artist and the founder of Senkoukai Karate, a Karate style developed independently in India. He is known for his contributions to traditional martial arts and has received both national and international recognition for his achievements.
Early life and education
[edit]Shaswat Kumar is based in Hyderabad, Telangana. He began his martial arts training at a young age and pursued a variety of traditional Karate systems. Over time, his experience led to the formation of a unique Karate style rooted in both Indian philosophy and Japanese technique.
Career
[edit]Kumar is the founder and head of Senkoukai Karate, a system integrating traditional Japanese Karate forms with an Indian philosophical base. He was appointed to the Senkoukai World Executive Committee in 2025, becoming the first Indian to hold the position.[1]
He has participated in international events and has been recognized for promoting martial arts rooted in Indian identity. His work has led to the global adoption of Senkoukai Karate principles.[2]
Recognition and titles
[edit]In May 2024, Kumar was conferred the title of Hanshi and awarded the 10th Dan Black Belt by a Japanese martial arts council, reportedly making him the first Indian martial artist to achieve this rank.[3]
