Sam Badi is an Italian urban, sustainable streetwear clothing brand. Founded in 2014, the brand has quickly become popular among young people because it combines irony with fashion.

History

[edit]

Sam Badi was founded in Milan on May 13, 2014 playing with linguistic imperfections. Initially focused on t-shirts, the brand quickly expanded its offerings, now including a wide range of clothing and accessories. [1][2][3]

Starting in 2019, the brand formalizes its shift towards a more ethical and sustainable approach by researching low environmental impact fabrics, using a material called ECONYL® (a nylon yarn made entirely from waste collected worldwide, such as discarded fishing nets, used carpets, industrial plastic waste and other nylon scraps), and thanks to the collaboration with Cooperativa Alice - Sartoria San Vittore (a collective of seamstresses and pattern makers founded on social commitment that invests its profits in training and job inclusion programs involving inmates from Italian prisons) for the modeling, sampling and production of swimwear and Econyl pockets.[4][5][6]

The definitive upgrade to sustainable production, however, occurs in 2022 thanks to the possibility of producing all of its products through Print on Demand, with organic cotton fabrics and digital prints with 100% natural and organic inks that allow the production of individual products only when they are ordered, reducing mass production costs and making production more ethical and sustainable.[1][5]

Philosophy and values

[edit]

A reality born as a game and that focuses on linguistic imperfections through a broken english: in fact, the name of the brand wants to be the macaronic Italianized version of the English term "somebody".[2][3] At the heart of Sam Badi's philosophy are irony, creativity, sustainability, social responsibility and inclusivity. The brand is committed to creating quality clothes with a particular focus on the search for eco-compatible materials that has led to the use of recycled and low environmental impact fabrics.[1][5][2]

Distribution

[edit]

Sam Badi then developed a series of collaborations with artists and influencers, making them true testimonials of the brand and thus allowing it to consolidate its presence in e-commerce and resale in small boutiques in the Italian territory.[1][3][4]
