Rein Lindmäe (born 17 March 1953 in Tallinn) is a male former international table tennis player from Soviet Union and Estonia.[1] He won the bronze medal in team event at the 1973 World Table Tennis Championships in Sarajevo as a member of the Soviet Union national team.[2]
Career
[edit]In 1970, Lindmäe won the bronze medal at the European Youth Championships in Teeside as a member of the Soviet national youth squad.
Three years later, at the 1973 World Table Tennis Championships in Sarajevo, Lindmäe became the first Estonian male player in history to win the medal at the World Championships.
Accolades
[edit]Lindmäe is one of the most accomplished Estonian table tennis players of all time with 37 gold medals won at the national championships, including 10 singles titles.[3] On the professional circuit, Lindmäe won two doubles titles in his career.
Personal life
[edit]Lindmäe has a son and two daughters. His son Erik and daughter Karin are also a former international table tennis players for Estonia.[2]
