LilyIsThatYou (born September 17, 2000, as Lily Davies) is a Canadian pop singer and songwriter known for her cheeky, irreverent style and viral hits blending pop, dance, and punk influences. She gained prominence with her breakout single "FMRN" in 2021, which gained popularity on TikTok.[1]
Early Life
[edit]Lily Davies was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She began writing songs at the age of 13, using a microphone gifted by her father, a former composer for Canadian television shows. Her early exposure to music and songwriting set the foundation for her future career.[1]
Career
[edit]In 2021, LilyIsThatYou released her debut single "FMRN," an acronym for "Fuck Me Right Now." The song's bold themes and catchy melody resonated with a wide audience, amassing over 40 million global streams. Its popularity surged on platforms like TikTok, despite being temporarily removed in July 2021.[2]
Following the success of "FMRN," she released the single "Party 22," a raucous party anthem inspired by post-pandemic nightlife. In July 2022, she unveiled her debut EP, The Character, a six-track collection exploring themes of personal growth and self-expression.[3]
LilyIsThatYou signed with Warner Records, transitioning from an independent artist to a major label. This partnership has allowed her to focus more on her artistry and creative process.[4]
In December 2023, she released the EP POP MUSIC. Then, in October 2024, she released Painful Euphoria, which was later re-released in November 2024 with additional tracks.[5] These projects showcased her evolving sound and artistic growth.
Personal Life
[edit]Lily has been open about her struggles with addiction during her early teenage years. She uses her platform to advocate for sexual assault survivors and individuals battling addiction, aiming to be the role model she wished she had during her youth.[6][dead link ]
