Darkstar
[edit]The Darkstar is a fictional vehicle in the film Top Gun: Maverick that is property US Navy, made by Lockheed Martin, also known as the SR-72, can go Mach-10, or 12348 km/h.
History
[edit]The Darkstar was supposed to be a proposed prototype hypersonic[1] aircraft made by the Navy that Maverick was told to fly to Mach 9 on a date. However, Chester Cain has decided to cancel the program to make drone[2] projects because he said the aircraft had fell short of its contract time. The contract speed was Mach 10. Maverick, wanting to save the program from cancellation, decides to put the aircraft to Mach 10. Although he successfully is able to reach Mach 10, he decides to push the prototype[3] beyond limits, which causes the prototype to explode. The aircraft was made in real life by Lockheed Martin Skunk Division[4], made not to fly, but a model. It was made by actual engineers, to actual size.
