Founded in 2007, Cableguys GmbH & Co KG is a German music software company based in Hamburg, developing professional plugin effects and instruments for use in VST-, Audio Units- and AAX-compatible digital audio workstations (DAWs). Cableguys’ flagship product is ShaperBox, in which a variety of audio effects (volume, filtering, reverb, panning, widening, distortion, etc) can be modulated by freely editable LFOs – a core concept that also powers the company’s Curve 2 synthesizer, MidiShaper MIDI modulation and FilterShaper XL dual filter plugins. Alongside ShaperBox, Cableguys is also known for HalfTime, a slowdown effect that utilises advanced timestretching algorithms to smoothly slow down the incoming audio signal, and the Snapback drum layering plugin.
Cableguys also developed Nicky Romero’s Kickstart 2 plugin, a volume modulation effect that greatly simplifies the ubiquitous music production technique of sidechain ducking.
