Born in Adaspur village, Kantapada block, Cuttack district, Odisha, India, Nayak currently serves as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Chingari, driving its technical innovation and growth.[1][2]
Early Life and Education
[edit]Nayak was born in Adaspur, Cuttack district, Odisha, to Binod Nayak.[1][3] He completed his matriculation at Prachi Academy in Adaspur and his higher secondary education (+2) at Royal College of Science and Technology, Bhubaneswar, focusing on Mathematics and Computer Science.[4] He graduated with a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) from ITER, Siksha 'O' Anusandhan (SOA) University, Bhubaneswar.[5][6]
Career
[edit]Nayak began his career in 2013 as an Android app developer at Globussoft in Bengaluru, serving as a Product/Engineering Manager until 2020.[4][5] He developed over 10-15 social media automation tools and dating apps, scaling them to more than 1 million users.[6][7]
In November 2018, Nayak co-founded Chingari with Sumit Ghosh, Deepak Salvi, and Aditya Kothari in Bengaluru.[1][2][8] The app surged in popularity post the 2020 TikTok ban in India, recording over 2.5 million downloads in 24 hours.[3][9] As CTO, Nayak oversees product development and introduced the Gari Network, a blockchain ecosystem integrated with Chingari, featuring the Gari crypto token launched in October 2021 with Solana blockchain support.[10][11][12] The Gari Network incentivizes users and creators with tokens for in-app activities like creating, watching, and engaging with content.[13] By 2022, Chingari had over 170 million downloads, ranking among Google Play’s top 20 globally.[10][11]
Achievements
[edit]- Atmanirbhar Bharat App Innovation Challenge: Chingari won the social category in 2020, receiving a ₹20 lakh prize.[14]
- PM Modi’s Praise: Narendra Modi recognized Chingari in his 2020 Mann Ki Baat for its contribution to Indian innovation.[6][9]
- Investor Backing: Post-TikTok ban, Chingari and Gari Network secured funding from Anand Mahindra and over 30 venture funds, raising $19 million in 2021.[1][3][12]
Personal Life
[edit]Nayak has lived in Bengaluru since 2013.[9] He admires Elon Musk for his innovative mindset and supports the "Vocal for Local" initiative to promote Indian startups.[6][7]
