- Royal Challengers Bengaluru won the toss and elected to field.
- Virat Kohli (Royal Challengers Bengaluru) played in his 400th T20 match, becoming the third Indian after Rohit Sharma and Dinesh Karthik to achieve this milestone.[3] He completed 1,000 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL and became the first and only batter to score 1000+ runs against four IPL opponents.[4]
