The 2025 season is the 18th season for the Indian Premier League franchise Royal Challengers Bengaluru. They are one of the ten teams competing in the 2025 Indian Premier League. They finished in fourth place in the previous season.[1] Ahead of the season, Rajat Patidar was announced as the captain.
Pre-season
[edit]The 2025 Indian Premier League is the 18th edition of the Indian Premier League, a franchise Twenty20 cricket league held in India, organized by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The tournament features ten teams competing in 74 matches from 22 March to 25 May 2025 across 13 venues in India.[2]
Former Bengaluru player Dinesh Karthik joined the squad in a mentorship role following his retirement in the previous season replacing Neil McKenzie.[3] Omkar Salvi replaced Adam Griffith as a bowling coach.[4]
Player retention
[edit]Franchises were allowed to retain a maximum of six players from their squad,[5][6] including a maximum of five recent international players.[7] Franchises were required to submit their retention lists before 31 October 2024.[8] Bengaluru retained three players.[9]

Auction
[edit]The season's auction took place in November 2024 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.[12] The auction purse for each franchise was set at ₹120 crore (US$14 million), with franchises deducted an amount from the purse for every retained player.[13] Bengaluru had a purse remaining of ₹83 crore (US$9.8 million).[14] Franchises who did not retain six players, were allowed Right-to-Match cards at the auction for each player not retained.[15] Bengaluru had three cards left.[16]
Bengaluru bought 19 players in the auction, including 12 capped players and eight overseas players. The franchise used its Right-to-Match cards to buy Swapnil Singh, Josh Hazlewood and Suyash Sharma.[17]
