Baltic states synchronization with UCTE

[edit]

A technical queestion regarding the upcoming Baltic states synchronization with UCTE. How do you move whole countries from one synchronous grid to another without everything going bang? Does the European grid slowly shift frequency and phase until it's in sync with the Russian (and thus also Baltic) grid, and then the interconnects with the European grid are opened before disconnecting from the Russian ones? Or do the Baltic countries first disconnect entirely from the Russian grid, re-phase themselves to the European grid, and then open the new interconnects? In either case, how long does it take? Minutes? Hours? — The Anome (talk) 15:16, 5 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
