Shortcuts

Please review the AWB guide before making a request. Users are rarely approved unless they have either 250 non-automated mainspace edits or 500 total mainspace edits. You can check your non-automated contributions on XTools. Administrators are automatically approved and do not need to request access. For bots, you must first have a bot approval request approved, or in trial; link to your BRFA in the request.

This page is for requesting AWB Access for English Wikipedia only. Other projects have their own check pages and you should ask administrators there to add you.

If approved, your name will be added to the CheckPage. If you will make many or fast automated edits using AWB, you may wish to use a separate (or bot) account for that purpose; first create the account, give it a userpage declaring it to be your alternate account, then make the request using your main account.

Please note that administrators may not ping you in replies, so please check on your request if you have not heard anything.

Especially for new users, it is helpful (although not strictly required) to explain what specific task you intend to use AWB to do in your request.

You do not usually need AWB access to:

fix duplicate references (see User:Polygnotus/DuplicateReferences)
fight vandalism (see WP:CUV/T)
do category maintenance (see WP:CATALOT)
rate articles (see WP:RATER)

Not done You're still WP:Hat collecting and requesting far too many permissions far too often. And the rationale for this one is kind of lacking: AWB can't really remove vague or non-neutral phrasing or apply templates like "advert" or "tone" because it lacks any natural language processing capabilities and can't tell whether the phrasing is vague/non-neutral or the tag is justified. * Pppery * _{it has begun...} 04:29, 14 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
