Global Feminisms is a course which considers women’s and feminist movements in the Global South. This course seeks to survey the types of issues that are important to women in various contexts in the Global South, as well as to consider how these issues have been addressed by both local activist movements and transnational organizations. We also consider how global/transnational feminist theory and practice may provide a response to, critique of, and alternative to American and Western European feminist discourses.

For this course, students will edit pages that cover feminist, women's, or LGBTQ activism in the context of the Global South. This may include pages about individual activists; feminist, women's, or LGBTQ organizations in particular local communities, countries, or regions; or particular events that have been important to feminist or LGBTQ organizing in specific contexts in the Global South. We will begin with training on editing wikipedia, doing practice exercises, choosing an article to edit and building a bibliography, creating initial edits, reviewing each other's work, and revising edits.
