The Current events section contains a listing on an ongoing automated basis of importance events, article editing trends and newsworthy developments related to COVID-19. The Did you know section showcases new or expanded articles that are selected through an informal review process. The Wikinews section (a listing of ongoing news events) like its big sister Wikipedia, is run and funded by volunteers donating their time and money, and also has no advertising.

Department of Health and Human Services secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announces that the United States Centers for Disease Control will remove the COVID-19 vaccine from its list of recommended vaccines for healthy children and pregnant women. (NPR) (Reuters)
30 April 2025 – Nigeria and the International Monetary Fund
Nigeria fully repays its US$3.4 billion debt to the International Monetary Fund that it borrowed during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is expected to pay some residual honorary charges for special withdrawing rights of US$30 million annually. (Jamaica Observer) (MSN)
3 April 2025 – Canada convoy protests
The Ontario Court of Justice in Ontario, Canada, convicts Tamara Lich and Chris Barber, two leaders of the truck driver protest movement against COVID-19 vaccination in Canada, of criminal mischief. (AP)
