Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."

  • To list a technical request: edit the Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
    {{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}

    This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.
  • If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
  • If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.

Technical requests

Uncontroversial technical requests

I completed a similar request a few weeks ago, and noticed at List of Norwegian fjords that some end in "-en" but others don't, while sometimes "Fjord" is a separate word and sometimes not. It appears that a lot of redirects in all directions have taken place, such as Førdefjorden to Førde Fjord. I don't know Norwegian so I have no idea if these are all official names or if there is a problem with consistency of article titles. Either way, it seems like a bigger cleanup job than this one request. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 13:06, 25 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Requests to revert undiscussed moves

Contested technical requests

Fair enough. Robby.is.on (talk) 09:20, 25 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Is "Polizia Locale" used in reliable English-language sources? See WP:UE. 162 etc. (talk) 15:35, 24 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
This one doesn't work, since "Nickelodeon" can also refer to unrelated topics. See Nickelodeon (disambiguation). In fact, Nickelodeon (UK and Ireland), Nickelodeon (Middle East and North Africa), and Nickelodeon (Sub-Saharan Africa) should be reverted back to their stable titles. 162 etc. (talk) 01:39, 21 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Intrisit: I urge you to self-revert the moves noted above. 162 etc. (talk) 15:40, 24 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Yeagvr Okay, I'm contesting this because the original move rationale (concise) makes sense. It is a railway station, but that doesn't have to be in the title. Toadspike [Talk] 10:24, 19 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Usually the title is “railway station”. “Station” is used for subways… At least that’s what i see, I may be wrong. –yeagvr · 17:18, 24 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose A request to revert your undiscussed move was already performed via myself. If an editor opposes an undiscussed move from the original title, then it can be reverted. At this point, you're going to have to start a discussion at the articles talk page and receive consensus to have the page moved per WP:RSPM. Jerium (talk) 20:34, 25 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Consuela9890 This has been moved back and forth with no discussion on the talk page in a way that is close to a move war. A RM will have to be done to determine the consensus for the proposed name. cyberdog958Talk 22:13, 25 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
