Guild of Copy Editors' requests page

On this page, you can request that the Guild of Copy Editors copy-edit specific articles.

Instructions for requesters

To make a request, remove any existing {{copy edit}} tags from the article, then click this button and follow the instructions:

Please remove any existing {{copy edit}} tags from the article to avoid edit conflicts during the copy edit.

Please note:

  • No request by an unregistered editor will be accepted unless the IP has done significant work on the article. Drive-by IP requests already on the list may be declined by any editor.
  • The average waiting time is two or so months. Please be patient and feel free to improve your requested article while you wait.
  • If you plan to nominate the article for good article, A-class or featured article status, please wait until the copy edit is complete before nominating it.
  • Having your article copy edited by our team does not guarantee that the prose will be considered acceptable during any of the above reviews.
  • You may have up to two open requests at any one time. This is enforced so that every request can have a fair chance of being fulfilled within a reasonable period.

Requests may be declined if the article is:

@Excellenc1: Are you still working on this? You last edited this article on 5 July. Mox Eden (talk) 16:34, 12 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Mox Eden: I'm sorry I got a bit busy with other stuff irl, there are still sections in the article that need cleanup. Excellenc1 (talk) 19:25, 13 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Excellenc1: Still busy? Mox Eden (talk) 07:00, 30 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Mox Eden Yes actually my bad. I got some time yesterday but I got reminded that I have an old draft pending so I continued working on that. I may or may not come back to this article in a short while. It's pretty tedious to check all the citations and modify tone of the content. Excellenc1 (talk) 19:57, 30 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I am requesting a copy edit of the article of the film Employee of the Month that starred Dane Cook, Jessica Simpson and Dax Shepard, especially since the plot section needing to be trimmed. Thank you. NeoBatfreak (talk) 18:33, 7 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

See Talk:Greensburg tornado, pretty self-explanatory as to why I'm submitting a request. Hoping to get to FA-quality (FAC) sometime soon. — EF5 18:10, 8 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Please kindly clean-up the article, keep the important information and remove the overly written ones and then once the article is cleaned up and well-written, remove the template. Thank you. Failed an FAC, with apparent MOS & reference issues which multiple editors indicate need to be fixed. Can someone go through the article and references and ensure they are aligned with MOS? Thanks in advance! From the FAC:Examples of MOS issues include unmarked postal abbreviations, repeated links, and missing alts. Examples of citation inconsistencies include whether newspapers are italicized, whether authors are listed last name or first name first, and whether ISSNs are included for periodicals. The Weather Event Writer (Talk Page) 01:12, 4 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@WeatherWriter: Most, if not all, of what you mention could, and should, be treated by the subject-matter editors. "[U]nmarked postal abbreviations" mean what? I see two-letter state abbreviations being linked; that should be enough. WP:OVERLINK should be consulted and links removed accordingly (this is a fairly short article, of ~800 words, as we measure such things). There shouldn't be much need for linking a particular prose term more than once (you might even consider cutting down on linking the state postal abbreviations in your table, such as "MS" and "AL"). Consistent formatting of references, as well as what detail they contain, and how punctuated, are not what copy editors concentrate on. Nowhere in your FAC quotation does it say "prose issues", which is a better sign that the guild should be called in. Dhtwiki (talk) 09:58, 5 June 2025 (UTC) (edited 10:03, 5 June 2025 (UTC))[reply]

Wanted to try getting this to FA but the FAC didn't work out. So I think having a copyedit will help it out in some capacity. GamerPro64 01:54, 7 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Potential DYK and GA nom (GAN). --TheUzbek (talk) 08:18, 20 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Translated from its Japanese entry, the article has passed AfC with a B-class and was promoted in DYK, but was quick failed for a GA (GAN) because of "grammar problems", and the reviewer suggested me a copyedit request here. --Saimmx (talk) 12:17, 21 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Partially done: I've corrected the obvious prose issues. For a final polish to really make the writing shine, you may want to wait for another reviewer, but this should be sufficient to not quickfail. 2001:8F8:172B:3F78:9DD7:CA08:8AA4:B88C (talk) 05:03, 22 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

For potential FAC. Lazman321 (talk) 05:37, 22 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

FAC: After 2+ years I am planning on nominating this for FA status, hopefully by end of 2025. I would appreciate if a copyeditor could: 1.) make things read clearer; especially in songs section and release/promotion and 2.) redo the critical reception in its entireity as I am generally bad at writing those and have become too jaded and/or cynical to do a good job. This, alongside any other CE'ing/feedback, is greatly appreciated. Any sources with a ProQuest ID are accessible via Wikipedia Library. // Chchcheckit (talk) 11:28, 22 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

July 2025

[edit]

This article was submitted to FAC but failed (in part) on prose concerns. I would also appreciate flagging of prose that appears too technical (in particular, anatomy). Note, I have a tendency to place a comma between an independent and dependent clause (but I'm trying to fix myself). Thanks, Dunkleosteus77 (talk) 02:44, 3 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

During the article’s FAC review, one of the reviewers raised concerns about the quality of the prose. I have made some improvements since then, but the article would benefit from a more thorough copyedit before its second nomination. Thank you for your time and help. Hello! I have done my best to fix up this page as much as I can, though there's probably space for more improvement and added wiki links. Hope this helps! UsedBooks (talk) 03:53, 22 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

For a GAN.--TeenAngels1234 (talk) 11:59, 6 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

FAC: I planned to take the article to FAC previously, but this time I am going for it. In last year's peer review, more work on the prose was suggested. I did some improvements myself but as some time has passed, a copy edit would be much appreciated before heading to FAC. Vestigia Leonis (talk) 13:07, 6 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

For a possible WP:FAC. There is currently a peer review going on at Wikipedia:Peer review/Rei Ayanami/archive1, as I and TeenAngels1234 have been discussing ways we can get this to become an FAC. I am submitting this to ensure it gets copyedited for readability for a general audience and to get the prose to FA quality as I work on translating titles of and correcting citations. Z. Patterson (talk) 00:38, 7 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The article needs to be copy edited for general readability for prose. I am posting this in response to the feedback I have received from Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Ochaco Uraraka/archive2 and a recommendation I got from Tintor2 in my talk page. Z. Patterson (talk) 19:55, 7 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

To clarify, the prose readability will be for a future FAC. Z. Patterson (talk) 19:56, 7 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Preparing for a Good Article nomination (GAN) and would be grateful for a fresh copy-edit from GOCE's sharp eyes. FrodoMarsh (talk) 03:10, 8 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Article with potential for GAN after expansion. Tintor2 (talk) 8 July 2025 (UTC)

Currently has WP:TOOBIG tag. Most of the headings point to main articles, so there is nothing to split off, just needs a trim of about 5,000 words and an eye for how to do that. Thanks, Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 17:16, 8 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

For future GAN. At the peer review, comments brought up repetitive prose as an issue, so I'd like to get that fixed. Thanks, Grumpylawnchair (talk) 02:33, 9 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

For a GAN. Toffee Dude talk 10:12, 12 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

This article is some of my largest contributions to Wikipedia in terms of direct user-read prose, mostly under the Gameplay and Reception headers, and I would appreciate a second opinion on my word choice and overall text quality. A review of the maintenance tags for cleanup & tone from a less-involved editor than me would be appreciated as well. ScalarFactor (talk) 19:18, 15 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

DYK: Base on the DYK review this article needed copy-editing and my English grammar is bad. Warm Regards, Miminity (Talk?) (me contribs) 10:35, 17 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Currently at WP:FAC (FAC), one of the reviewers requested a second pair of eyes take a look and copy-edit for flow. Amanuensis Balkanicus (talk) 21:15, 19 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I think the article does not flow well so is not so easy to read. But please don't change any of the English names as that will just stoke up nationalists. Chidgk1 (talk) 05:50, 20 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

An FL-C of mine that was promoted not too long ago, just want to make sure there arent any errors missed in the FL-C review. Olliefant (she/her) 05:09, 22 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The article has recently undergone major edits to improve overall coverage and address potential close paraphrasing. It could still benefit from a thorough copyedit to ensure a more polished and concise style. Thanks for your time and effort. Borsoka (talk) 08:23, 22 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I'm requesting a GOCE copyedit so that this article can attain GA (GAN) status. The peer review was already pretty good. All help will be appreciated! 🍗TheNuggeteer🍗 (My "blotter") 09:50, 22 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Much of this article is hard to read and incoherent. ValentinaKerman (talk) 00:35, 24 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Went through and made some changes, not a ton but it's a start. VergilSparkles (talk) 17:31, 24 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The article needs drastic trimming and has remained too long since 2011. ValentinaKerman (talk) 00:38, 24 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Positively ancient FA that has not been TFA. May run next year in 2026 for its 30th anniversary. Needs a clean up for grammar and formatting. Harizotoh9 (talk) 03:00, 25 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

GAN: I want to nominate this article for good article after a peer review. This article looks messy but has a great potential in reaching GA status. One of the main reasons why it is messy is because of its grammar, which is why I'm requesting it to be fixed. Thanks, 🍗TheNuggeteer🍗 (My "blotter") 01:19, 26 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Attempted to correct some of the obvious stuff, but still appears to need some broad clean-up and things of that nature (run-on sentences, overly flowery wording, grammar etc.). For eventual PR, maybe GA (GAN) at some point. Thanks! Packerfan386beer here 23:14, 27 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Article is horribly written. Issues with underscores and italics. DareshMohan (talk) 07:44, 29 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Went through and made some changes to the sentence flow as well as some grammar and WP:MOS mistakes. There's likely more than a few things I missed, but the most egregious errors should be fixed now. VergilSparkles (talk) 16:40, 29 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I've been working towards getting this article ready for a potential GAN and would appreciate a quick copy edit before moving forward. Thanks in advance, Eiga-Kevin2 (talk) 21:48, 29 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The article needs a fairly large CE to become readable in one sitting as most of it is an unending wall of text. Some effort was put into writing and adding decent refs etc. but it is a headache to get through.Packerfan386beer here 10:21, 30 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Article in need of some editing. Seemingly written, edited, and corrected by a couple of dedicated people, but the latest activity is just from bots. Splendidfoolisheditor (talk) 17:11, 31 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

New article related to South Asian politics and Bangladesh Liberation War created several days ago. Need copyediting so that all reader can understand its content. Mehedi Abedin 21:33, 31 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

An article that passed ga in 2013. I am looking to nominate this for f. A sometime in the future. I recently expanded the article with another editor. My top concern is the overusage of the quotes in the musical section where I need help with the paraphrasing. Erick (talk) 17:51, 1 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I plan to submit the Progressive Youth (Croatia) article for a GAN review. I'd appreciate a copyedit before the nomination. Cheers. Tomobe03 (talk) 00:46, 2 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
