Piotr Kamler page
Hi, Yamla. I just created a stub for Polish film director Piotr Kamler. The page name came with a warning that another page under that name had been removed by you in 2015 because it was created by a banned user in 2015. I couldn't find a reference to it in your logs so I proceeded, but thought it best to check and see if there is any issue I am missing. I believe my stub is all original content. Wrightjack talk
Do you mind checking my math?
At User talk:Newatlascamels#I've removed your extended confirmed permissions. I was improperly pinged so I looked up the pinger. Benefits of attribution. BusterD (talk) 12:34, 19 February 2025 (UTC)
- I'll take a look. --Yamla (talk) 13:07, 19 February 2025 (UTC)
- Wow, clear WP:GAMING. But also... a slew of welcomes ending in June 2021, then no edits until 2023. That's very strange. I endorse your removal of extended-confirmed, and thanks for making the review easy! --Yamla (talk) 13:12, 19 February 2025 (UTC)
- I was later drawn to an unrelated ANI discussion, so now I know about the template. That's only three times on PGAME for me, but I have every reason to expect more experience. BusterD (talk) 13:14, 19 February 2025 (UTC)
- I believe EC sleeper socks have become a commodity. Build them and sell them for crypto. BusterD (talk) 13:17, 19 February 2025 (UTC)
- Yeah, I noticed the edits to crypto. Your explanation certainly fits. I hope it's wrong, but it certainly fits. --Yamla (talk) 13:18, 19 February 2025 (UTC)
- Was it User:Durova who created a great sub-page about detecting sock puppets and therefore created a manual (if dated) for such dubious users? I know the (more modern) tell I witnessed, but I can't communicate it to the community. We are in a calibration phase, when bad actors study our social norms for weaknesses. BusterD (talk) 13:26, 19 February 2025 (UTC)
- Sorry for the editorializing, but shouldn't crypto be a CT? BusterD (talk) 13:39, 19 February 2025 (UTC)
- Yes! Sorry for the delay in responding. See Wikipedia:General_sanctions, "Blockchain and cryptocurrency". --Yamla (talk) 20:17, 20 February 2025 (UTC)
- BusterD, I went through a convoluted series of discussions today to end up here in this one but after reading it, I was wondering if you had a link to that page about detecting socks. I only see the incredibly obvious ones, the ones that edit the same limited group of articles, one after another. I do not have a nose for smelly, craftier socks. Liz Read! - I was bragging, and got busy. It's a sort of long term project. Thanks for the GS link, Yamla. BusterD (talk) 23:31, 22 February 2025 (UTC)

Unvanish
Hiya! There is a vanished editor who is editing on the regular (User:Vanisheduser5421234). In these cases global renamers generally unvanish the account, no?-- Ponyobons mots 20:16, 20 February 2025 (UTC)
- Yes. Definitely. Would you like me to do the unvanish? --Yamla (talk) 20:16, 20 February 2025 (UTC)
- Yes please. I'll leave a note on their talk page.-- Ponyobons mots 20:17, 20 February 2025 (UTC)
- Will do! --Yamla (talk) 20:19, 20 February 2025 (UTC)
- Nowadays they'd have been globally locked. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 22:37, 20 February 2025 (UTC)
