He is an independent researcher. Usually we prefer academics who specialize in Islamic studies and/or religious studies. Anyway, another problem with the edit is that it is only about select groups of Muslims (Muslims in the United Kingdom, Muslims in Australia and etc) and not about the global number of Muslims in the world. You can propose changes on Talk:Islam since I am not the only editor who disagrees with this change. Those countries cannot even be possibly representative of all Muslims in those continents. There is no need to cite every country. The Pew Research source already gives a global overview. You are welcome to try finding a better source than it, but I would advise you to contribute to other Islam-related articles, since those sources might be useful elsewhere.
