[edit]Hi Stephan , You have recently removed a topic in the wiki page of "islam" Stating it as Unreliable sources . But the source used is Wikipedia and CBS , Both are regarded as reliable and credible source ensuring the accuracy and reliability of the information provided . ItsTrueNow (talk) 19:41, 2 April 2025 (UTC)
- Wikipedia cannot be used as a source. See WP:UGC. StephenMacky1 (talk) 19:44, 2 April 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks for Correcting me . I'll Replace The Source of Wiki to a credible source Now . Again thanks for noting it . I'll replace it ItsTrueNow (talk) 19:47, 2 April 2025 (UTC)
- I Have Now Used Reliable and More Authentic Sources Stephen. AJIS is peer-reviewed academic journal. Faith Matters is an ItsTrueNow (talk) 21:51, 2 April 2025 (UTC)
- Faith matters is an legit UK org, and authored by a Swansea University academic. Thanks for correcting me . If had any issus talk here before reverting my change . Im open to correct it . Thanks ItsTrueNow (talk) 21:54, 2 April 2025 (UTC)
- He is an independent researcher. Usually we prefer academics who specialize in Islamic studies and/or religious studies. Anyway, another problem with the edit is that it is only about select groups of Muslims (Muslims in the United Kingdom, Muslims in Australia and etc) and not about the global number of Muslims in the world. The article's lead is also meant to summarize what is already in the article. I would advise you to use Talk:Islam. StephenMacky1 (talk) 22:18, 2 April 2025 (UTC)
- Halim Rane Co-Author of the study is a professor of islamic studies at Griffith university, a legit expert and the journal is peer-reviewed. The faith matters is by kevin brice of swansea university was also academic . Both meets WP:RS for Expertise in Religious Studies . Their Source is well credible and reliable to state .
- And ive sourced just UK,Australia bcs citing each and every country is impossible . US - 20% of American Muslims is reverts and not born muslims[Source : pee research study about Islam conversion] . France - approx 5000 french people are reverting in annual basis which is significant too [Source : "les nouveaux convertis de I'islam" Study published on Le Croix a well reputed Credible source as secondary source]
- Per WP:WEIGHT, The inclusion of conversion data from US,UK,Australia,France adequately reflects a significant global trend without requiring exhaustive coverage of every country. These nations spans three continents - North america,Europe,Oceania. I Hope you redo the edit sir . If any issue say sir i'll rectify myself ItsTrueNow (talk) 12:50, 3 April 2025 (UTC)
- You can propose changes on Talk:Islam since I am not the only editor who disagrees with this change. Those countries cannot even be possibly representative of all Muslims in those continents. There is no need to cite every country. The Pew Research source already gives a global overview. You are welcome to try finding a better source than it, but I would advise you to contribute to other Islam-related articles, since those sources might be useful elsewhere. It is best to familiarize yourself with the policies and guidelines too, rather than immediately make bold edits. StephenMacky1 (talk) 13:22, 3 April 2025 (UTC)
- Yeah its my fault to edit it directly sir But now Ive provided with reliable and credible source then whats being hindrance here? Its not a representative of contineny but those are modern large countries and no country can be a representative of a continent . So what should i provide more to add that stance sir ? Thanks for answering ItsTrueNow (talk) 19:03, 3 April 2025 (UTC)
- You can propose your changes on the article's talk page. Just know that nothing can be forced into an article. The best practice is to stick what the sources say. We cannot make up something that is not there. StephenMacky1 (talk) 19:11, 3 April 2025 (UTC)
- Sure I'll ask in talk page Thanks sir . Sources says theres huge amount of conversions from non-born muslims and its to be mentioned too even if its not primary which is called neutrality . I supported the claim with reliable sources too . Anyways thanks sir i'll proceed in talk page about this . If you notice any issues with my sources you can address it here .
