![]() | Scam warning If you are visiting this page because someone claiming to be me contacted you asking for any payment of any type, it is not me and you are being scammed. If they are threatening to delete or take other adverse action against some article, they can't actually do that and you should not under any circumstances pay them any money or further engage with them. ![]() | As I frequently work at the arbitration enforcement noticeboard, I am "aware" of all the various areas covered by discretionary sanctions, and this notice may be considered evidence of awareness if enforcement is requested. Please read before posting
[edit]- Post all new sections under a new header at the bottom of this page, not at random. If you make it clear you ignored these instructions by placing it elsewhere, I am likely to ignore your request in turn.
- If you leave me a message here, I will respond to it here, as fragmented discussions are confusing. I may or may not leave you a notice that I've responded on your talk page. If you specifically request that I do (or do not) give you such a notice when I respond, I'll honor that request. If I contact you on your talk page, I will watchlist it so that I can respond there. If you'd like to leave me a notice when you respond (a ping will also suffice), it would be appreciated, and you'll probably receive a faster followup.
- No lulztxtspk or emojis on my talk page, please. "You" is spelled "you", "though" is spelled "though", "because" is spelled "because", "people" is spelled "people", and so on. There is no character limit on Wikipedia comments, so there is no need whatsoever for ad-hoc abbreviating. If you don't even take yourself seriously, don't expect me to take you seriously either.
- If you are an admin here to ask me about someone I blocked for vandalism or spamming/advertising, they've agreed to stop it, and you believe they intend to edit productively, go ahead and unblock them. If you still want my opinion please feel free to ask, but there's no obligation. For more complex cases I would appreciate a heads-up, but please go ahead with your best judgment if I don't seem to be online. I would appreciate it if you'd let me know after you do.
- If you are here to discuss edits made to an article, please use the article talk page, not this talk page, to discuss them. If I made the edit and the question is specifically directed at me, you are welcome to ping me.
- If you email me a question or request, and do not indicate why the matter is sensitive and must be handled privately (and such is not immediately obvious), I may ignore it or respond on your talk page rather than by return email. Talk pages are open to other editors to read, and so are the preferred method of communication for matters involving Wikipedia. If the matter you are speaking to me about is Wikipedia-related and would not violate anyone's privacy by being posted publicly, please use my talk page instead of email. This does not, of course, apply to editors who are blocked from editing, though I still may respond on your talk page rather than by return email.
Thank you ...

... for your close of the Maddie Ziegler RfC. I had the article unwatched but noticed the RfC from user talk pages. I try to stay away from infobox discussions, so didn't participate. Would you agree that the topic isn't as hot as it must have been previously? Just yesterday I was reminded of two 2016 discussions, for Gustav Holst and Max Reger. For me, those were the last discussions that could have been described as "battles" in infobox "wars" (if at all), - Reger (discussion still on the talk) was the last time I had to defend an infobox in an article I had expanded, - quite a relief after 2013 when people said I could give an infobox to a Bach cantata if I hadn't turned it from red link to blue, - kafkaesque. - Talk:Gustav Holst/Archive 2#Infobox? was recently archived, - no comment ;) -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:56, 17 July 2025 (UTC)
- It was certainly calmer than some discussions on that subject I've seen. While of course that's a good thing, I honestly do not know whether that generalizes to infobox discussions across the board; I don't much follow them. But it was certainly a trouble spot for a long time, so if that's cooled off, I'm happy to see it. Seraphimblade Talk to me 12:12, 17 July 2025 (UTC)
- Check out "places" for a great smile, - he had just stepped in to play Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 2, successfully! - In case you missed Mozart might be a case to read. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:33, 18 July 2025 (UTC)
- Quite a smile indeed! I also got a smile on my own face, seeing the drawing of a pennyfarthing on the "no bicycling" sign. I'm sure someone still rides those, but I've never seen one when I've been out cycling. Kind of like the "floppy" icon gets used for "save" on everything, and many people who click it have probably never seen an actual floppy. Seraphimblade Talk to me 19:40, 18 July 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you ;) - Three Ukrainian topics were on the main page today, at least at the beginning, RD and DYK, - see my talk. - In the other topic, perhaps watch Talk:Gustav Holst, - yes mentioned above. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 18:33, 20 July 2025 (UTC)
- Béatrice Uria-Monzon and her story, Julia Hagen and her no story --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:58, 26 July 2025 (UTC)
- On Bach's day of death, I decorated my user pages in memory, with his music, and my story ends on "peace". --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:59, 28 July 2025 (UTC)

Advice on Arbitration
[edit]Hi, I hope this isn't inappropriate, but I'm really not familar with wikipedia procedure - I'm a bit confused, people are making statements about me, and I want to respond to their statements, but I have to do so within my own statement, and I only have 500 words to do it? I'm not sure how I'm supposed to be able to reply to peoples statements with such a limited word count? I'm really confused.
Thanks Icecold (talk) 03:06, 18 July 2025 (UTC)
- Icecold, if you need more words to respond to the allegations against you, you can ask for a word extension to do that (no one will be mad if you go slightly over the word count to ask for an extension and say what you need it for). That said, extensions will not be granted to argue with other editors; that's not what AE is for. If you've said your piece about what you've been accused of, there is no need to respond to what everyone else has to say about it; what has happened will ultimately be evaluated on its merits. The idea is to avoid AE threads devolving into back and forth argument between participants. Seraphimblade Talk to me 03:35, 18 July 2025 (UTC)
- Okay, well I'll reword my response later and post it up. I think some of the things I've been accused of are actually a bigger deal than the initial accusations so I'll focus on them, but it does mean I'm not going to be able to respond to every accusation about me.
