COI

[edit]

Do you have a wp:coi with any topic realted to Prince Abdulrahman Ibrahima Ibn Sori? Slatersteven (talk) 12:01, 27 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Could you explain? However I am sure I do not. Royals of America (talk) 12:07, 27 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Are you in any way connected to him? Slatersteven (talk) 12:08, 27 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I am not personaly connected to Prince Abdul Rahman but do know many of the decendants from the southern and eastern regions of the United States. Royals of America (talk) 16:44, 27 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Knowing them is a COI. Slatersteven (talk) 10:04, 28 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I read Terry Alfords' (Prince Among Slaves) and have been researching Prince Abdul Rahman and his descendant's. African American's of the diaspora, history has been lost unable to trace their beginnings or maintain their lineage. I'm fascinated with their story and journey and wondered why there was not more information about this family on Wikipedia, but it appears I am hit with resistance and right out underlined racism. Royals of America (talk) 16:08, 28 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No you are hit with wp:policy and wP:agf if you are going to play the racist card I am going to stop trying to eange with you. Slatersteven (talk) 16:26, 28 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I was not speaking to any your responses but rather a different response that I received. If someone states that Prince Abdul Rahman had no Royal Lineage and was from a warlord . The under tone is racist in my opinion. I have no dog in this nor am I trying to fight with others . I just wanted to know if decedants of Prince Abdul Rahman were consider having notability . That to me was yes or no . I would have deleted my post if I could from all the negativity. Your responses have always been respectful . Thank you Royals of America (talk) 17:03, 28 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:HRH Princess Karen Chatman.jpeg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Hello! Royals601, you are invited to the Teahouse, a forum on Wikipedia for new editors to ask questions about editing Wikipedia, and get support from peers and experienced editors. Please join us! Liz Read! Talk! 03:51, 21 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, Royals601,
I'm sorry that your efforts on Wikipedia have been frustrating. I think you need to understand for a moment what many longtime editors here at this project deal with on a daily basis. We get a lot of new editors who are not interested in learning about the policies and guidelines that is the structure of Wikipedia and that determine decisions like which articles are kept and which are deleted. Instead, they want there to be an article about their grandfather or their favorite professor or the company they work for on Wikipedia. They are interested in promoting their favorite subjects.
That's why experienced editors can seem so strict is because we get a lot of publicists and PR People who see Wikipedia as free advertising. The governing concept on what content stays is what Wikipedia judges to be "notability" and that is not determined by what you or I think is important but by what reliable sources have chosen to write in-depth articles about.
I've been an editor here for 11 years and I have seen articles on subjects that I thought were truly interesting and important. But they were deleted because we didn't have sufficient reliable sources to verify the subject's notability. Sometimes it is simply what we call TOOSOON, it's about a person or company or technology that hasn't received attention yet. In those situations, that can change over time. But for subjects like historical figures, if we don't have the sources now, it is unlikely that any more will appear because the individual is deceased and is not currently "in the news", generating what we call "significant coverage".
I'm taking this time to let you know that what you are encountering is a very, very common problem. There are a lot of people I consider noteworthy whom Wikipedia doesn't have coverage of because the right news sources don't exist. I applaud your efforts and those of all people who strive to write an article on this project but know that if you do not succeed, it is likely not due to your lack of ability but just because the sources aren't available. They could be, one day, or not. Good luck. Liz Read! Talk! 04:03, 21 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the kind words. I didn't create the first last page and should not have undertaken the edits of it. 2600:8800:7188:2600:64F0:7AA5:6311:E8C5 (talk) 22:57, 21 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
