Help moving an article

[edit]

Hi Rotideypoc41352 sorry to bug you friend.

I am not sure if you can help me or if it is you I should ask.

You see I recently created the Fiji Expedition of 1840.

I was inspired to do so, (in part) because there are two articles labeled the First Fiji expedition and up until recently the Second Fiji Expedition, which I moved to the Third Fiji Expedition. However when I try and move the First Fiji Expedition to the Second it will not let me, because it is still somehow linked to the newly renamed Third Fiji Expedition? Is it a matter of the Wikidata?

Can you help me fix this? If not can you directly me to a person or place on Wikipedia that can? Thanks. (: Historyguy1138 (talk) 15:07, 1 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Nothing to do with Wikidata. You were at the right place—WP:RM/TR. You couldn't move the article because the software Wikipedia runs on usually disllows moving over (i.e. overwriting) a page that already has something there, including redirects. The folks at RM/TR can override this restriction, but I cannot. I suggest making your request at the end of the "Uncontroversial" section; most requests do not require an administrator.
If an article has been moved before, the RM/TR regulars are usually reluctant to move it again. In that case, please follow the instructions at WP:RM/CM. As an example, I have moved the articles to 18-- Fiji expedition. If you want to move them again, I suggest following RM/CM, not RM/TR. Thank you my friend. I may change it, not sure if we need to at this point. But in any event you have gone above and beyond the call of duty. I salute you sir. (: 🫡 Historyguy1138 (talk) 19:35, 1 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Awesome catch on the 1859 Fiji expedition

[edit]

Can you also change the article to 1858? (: Historyguy1138 (talk) 15:24, 2 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The Invisible Barnstar
For his continued work on Wikipedia since 2011 with little recognition. He has helped others and been persistent in making meaningful contributions to Wikipedia, not only for readers, but for Wikipedians as well. May it be that Rotidey's invisible work is invisible no longer.

I do my best. Also removed the stray heading markings ==. Rotideypoc41352 (talk · contribs) 14:55, 4 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Not a problem. Please keep up the great work. (: Historyguy1138 (talk) 15:01, 4 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Lack of a closing statement for the requested move on Talk:Ahsoka_(TV_series)

[edit]

The move request at Talk:Ahsoka_(TV_series)#Requested_move_16_May_2025 was a rather lengthy and contentious discussion with a variety of opinions. You, however, decided to simply close the discussion as moved with no closing statement whatsoever. I suggest making your rationale for why you landed on moved, very clear.
