[edit] Hello, I'm Sumanuil. Thank you for your recent contributions to Baron of Muirton. I noticed that you added an image to the article's infobox as a thumbnail. In future, please do not use thumbnails when adding images to an infobox, as this is against the Manual of Style. When adding an image, supply only the filename to the
|image=
parameter and the caption to the |caption=
parameter instead. The specific parameters for the image and caption may be different for the infobox you are using; please consult the Template page for the infobox being used on that page for proper instructions and documentation. Thanks! - Sumanuil. (talk to me) 04:30, 31 July 2024 (UTC)
- For some reason it autopopuated as a thumbnail, I wasn't sure why and I wondered if that was the default for that infobox. I will will fix it and watch for that in the future. Thanks! Muirton (talk) 18:04, 31 July 2024 (UTC)
COI Notice: Richard Culbert of Muirton edits
[edit]Hi @Muirton — per WP:COI and WP:AUTO, editors are discouraged from editing articles where they are personally involved, including pages about themselves, their titles, or associated claims.
If you'd like to propose changes to the Baronage of Scotland article regarding your name or barony, please suggest them here on the Talk page, and another editor without a COI can review. Also it says unverified here you might want to fix that. Thanks! Kellycrak88 (talk) 22:58, 12 June 2025 (UTC)
- Hey @Kellycrak88, can I ask why I find you on this heavily COId user's talk page explicitly advising them to update their information on the Baronage Roll, and even providing a convenient link to the website? — Arcaist (contr—talk) 23:35, 12 June 2025 (UTC)
- Just being helpful as the user was removing the unverified tag and citation source next to his name, so I pointed them toward the appropriate way to ensure accurate, sourced information could be maintained. That’s consistent with WP:V and WP:COI best practice — better that information be verified than silently altered. Kellycrak88 (talk) 23:39, 12 June 2025 (UTC)
Managing a conflict of interest
[edit] Hello, Muirton. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Baron of Muirton, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:

- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest § How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam § External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
