Question in regards to archiving a User Page
[edit]Hey @LaffyTaffer, We haven't met yet but I was just surfing around some edit history pages and found you. I really like the way you archived your 2024 talk page. I was wondering how could I do something similar for my own talk page? Middle Mac CJM (talk) 19:52, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @Middle Mac CJM, I don't think what I ended up doing was standard, but I wasn't able to get the automated archive tools working.
- I ended up placing {{annual archive}} at the top of User talk:LaffyTaffer/Archive 2024 (per that template's instructions), then cut and pasted my talk page into there. Finally I put {{archived annually}} at the top here. I have a suspicion that doing it manually is going to come back to bite me eventually, but I hope that helps! - Thank you! I appreciate it! Middle Mac CJM (talk) 21:15, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
Hey Citations
[edit]Hey thanks for letting me know that it doesn't go with the header but please don't remove the cites all together. if you can replace them somewhere and let me know, as its a lot of research to find and putting down the citations :) NormadicEditor (talk) 14:30, 7 January 2025 (UTC)
- Done, in the future you can restore them yourself by simply copying them from the edit history. Taffer😊 💬(they/she) 14:42, 7 January 2025 (UTC)
- Thank You :) NormadicEditor (talk) 14:51, 7 January 2025 (UTC)

Thank you for caring
[edit]When I saw that my edit concerning their gender was reverted, I honestly was expecting a bigot. Was grateful and happy to see that it was also someone who respects people's identity. I also stole your HLVRAI Userbox. >:D -- Grapefanatic (Talk) 13:18, 30 January 2025 (UTC)

- That revert was a boneheaded move on my part, sorry. I should have read the article closer to notice that Daneboe is trans, I appreciate that I was reverted quickly.
- Enjoy the userbox, I also made another one if you'd prefer to take Gordon's side on the matter.
Thank you for your work with MOS:DEADNAME and WP:BLP

Working through the tedium for a vital cause most definitely merits at least one of these. BarntToust 23:16, 3 February 2025 (UTC) |
- I'm going to have to graciously decline this. My main contribution to Deadname was going through all the links to James Stephanie Sterling and correcting her name on a bunch of articles. Thank you so much though, it's much appreciated <333 Taffer😊 💬(they/she) 00:48, 4 February 2025 (UTC)
WP:3RRNO and WP:BANREVERT
[edit][1] Linking to a conversation I had on another user's talk page for easy access to it later.(did a url rather than wikilink to avoid unnecessarily pinging) Struck me as useful to reference in the future if I'm doing reverts or stumbling across another user making 3+ RV's. External Links and General Inquiries
[edit]Hi Taffer, thanks for taking the time to check out my article. I just had a few questions about what I need to do regarding external links and other general areas.
- To clarify, no external links are placed in the text itself, and they are compiled in the external links section at the end? Would I still have to somehow cite or reference the sites, or just putting them at the end is sufficient?
- For potential COIs, what can I do make sure this is minimized? If I have to change certain wordings, that is fine, but I'm just unsure to what extent I need to do this. If impossible, what other actions can I take?
- Once everything gets adjusted to be compliant, who do I contact to review the changes and eventually resolve the problems off the page?
I'm new to all this and just kind of went ahead and started writing for him, so thanks for the feedback and help.

- For my future reference, this is about the page Sergio Carbajo.
- Hey @Gbruin14, thanks for reaching out.
- You are correct. External links in the article body should almost always be avoided (outside of inline citations and some minor exceptions that you're unlikely to ever run into). Links can be added in an External Links section at the bottom of the article, and guidance on what should and shouldn't be added can be found at Wikipedia:External_links#What_to_link. I personally don't feel that a link to the QWER Hacks site would necessarily be useful, but that's just my opinion and I wouldn't contest it being added properly.
- Regarding conflicts of interest, WP:COIEDIT details guidelines for editing with a COI better than I'd personally be able to. That specific section is a short read though.
- If you're looking for assistance with improving the article about Carbajo, you might be able to find folks willing to help over at Wikipedia:WikiProject Biography/Science and academia or some of the other wikiprojects linked at Talk:Sergio Carbajo, but remember that Wikipedia is a volunteer service and improving the article is going to depend on folks wanting to take the time to do so. I've done all that I feel I can to improve the article, which is why I've left the maintenance tags for someone else to come fix up later.

Stole your user-box!
[edit]:3 thanks for the shiny new box to begin my collection. happy editing! Sock-the-guy (talk) 23:22, 16 April 2025 (UTC)
- Heck yeah. I wish I could say I came up with it, but I've got to give credit to the streamer SunflowerSmith for that banger of a quote. Taffer😊💬(she/they) 23:24, 16 April 2025 (UTC)
