Talk Updates, Yorkshire Lifeboat pages

[edit]

HI @Keith D

I guess I just want to say thankyou for the updates to the talk pages of the Yorkshire Lifeboat Pages.

I don't even begin to understand what benefit this has, but I do believe its not upto the creator to rate their own pages, seems bad form.

Best wishes for 2024. Martin Ojsyork (talk) 22:32, 7 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Date formats

[edit]

Hi there, I'm wondering why you changed the date format in the citations on Emergency medical services in the United Kingdom? Best practice is to use ISO date format YYYY-MM-DD and use the template, e.g. 'use DMY dates', to set the local presentation format for the page. The format can then be changed globally trivially. For this reason, I tend to correct citation dates to YYYY-MM-DD when I see them, and would regard your recent changes as unconstructive. Best wishes. Millstream3 (talk) 08:42, 31 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The template also informs the editor which date format to be used in an article and so I correct the dates to match the template when I find that they do not match it. I would not expect ISO dates in articles that state they use one of the other formats. Keith D (talk) 10:49, 31 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The purpose of 'use DMY dates' template is to *format* the dates. That only works on ISO dates in citation templates. Millstream3 (talk) 12:36, 2 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It also informs edtors which format to use in an article, aligning dates also covers dates which are not in citation templates, so do not get changed when displayed. Keith D (talk) 13:35, 2 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

deleting article of Vijayant Thapar

[edit]

Hello Keith D, On 25 April 2012 you deleted the article of Vijayant Thapar (Indian Captain and recipient of Vir Chakra) [57] . Perhaps that time the article didn't had enough reference or the person's death didn't get enough media coverage. However, I have collected almost 26 references and want to recreate the article with proper references. When I am trying open the page, it is showing an infobox about delete log. Can you help me regarding this? CaptShayan (talk) 15:49, 27 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@CaptShayan: Hello my deletion was only a temporary one to perform a history merge, I moved an existing article to that title then restored the later versions of it that I had deleted. There was a deletion discussion in June 2016 that resulted in a deletion of the article. It was restored in February 2017 and moved to Draft:Vijayant Thapar and the main article page was set to allow only admins to create. The draft was deleted in December 2018 as abandoned with no edits been made for some time. It was later recreated but deleted in April 2022 as a copyright infringement. Suggest that you create your version of the article at Draft:Vijayant Thapar and submit it for articles for creation, when it is accepted it should get moved to main space and the protection removed from that title. Hope this helps. Keith D (talk) 19:06, 27 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Setting up two new wikipedia pages

[edit]

Dear Keith

Please assist if you can:

These two writers - journalist Claudia Joseph and historian Michael Reed - feature a great deal in the work on the Middleton family and Catherine, Princess of Wales wikipedia articles etc. Are you able to establish pages for these two; both have written books as well as many articles and have done much research published in the major UK national publications since 2011? Citations are available for both articles which I can add. (NB - A page was set up for Robert Lacey some years ago, so that's all good)

Here is a summary of Claudia Joseph:

Claudia Joseph (aged 63 in 2024) is a British author and journalist known for her extensive coverage of the British royal family, particularly Kate Middleton. She attended Cheltenham Ladies' College and trained as a fashion journalist at the London College of Fashion before transitioning into news reporting. She began as a secretary on Tatler magazine and was promoted to shopping editor of Street Smart on Tatler. She has worked as a show-business journalist, feature writer and investigative journalist and has contributed regularly to a number of national (UK) publications including The Times, the Evening Standard, Mail on Sunday and the Daily Mail. Joseph has authored several books on the royal family - again with a focus on the former Kate Middleton - and has frequently collaborated with Australian historian Michael Reed where they have offered insights into royal life today and in previous centuries. One of her books, "Kate: Princess in Waiting", was reviewed by A.N. Wilson of The Guardian who asked: "Is there really so little worth knowing about the life of Prince William's girlfriend?". Her television appearances include BBC, ITN, Sky, CNN, NBC and CBS.

Here is a summary of Michael Reed:

Michael Reed (aged 59 in 2024) is an Australian historian known for his extensive research into the British royal family, with a particular focus on the Middleton family. He studied in Victoria at Warrnambool's Christian Brothers' College and Monash University in Melbourne. His work explores the dynamics between the royals and the Middletons, offering insights into the family's rise to prominence. Reed has contributed and written for prominent UK publications such as the Guardian, The Daily Telegraph, Sunday Telegraph, Express, Daily Mail, and Mail on Sunday. He has collaborated with author Robert Lacey and journalist Claudia Joseph to further expanded his research, providing in-depth analysis of royal affairs. Reed's appearances on BBC Radio, his books and research articles offer a unique perspective on royal history and contemporary British monarchy.

Thanks as always for any assistance. T.

    • Hi Keith, I tired but failed to create the two pages. I CAN add in the citations. Do you know anyone that can set up these two pages? Thanks you as always, T.
