Luul Abdiaziz Mohamed, born on May 19, 1994, in Mogadishu, Somalia, was a dedicated civil servant at Aden Adde International Airport and a mother of six. She was known for her commitment to her work and her family.

Tragically, on January 26, 2024, while pregnant, Luul was attacked by her husband, who set her on fire in their home in the Dharkiinley district of Mogadishu. She suffered severe burns and succumbed to her injuries on February 2, 2024, at Digfeer Hospital.

Following her death, her family refused to bury her until justice was served, keeping her body in the mortuary for 36 days. The suspect fled but was captured on February 5, 2024, and later sentenced to death by the Banadir regional court on March 6, 2024. After the verdict, Luul was laid to rest on March 8, 2024, in Aljazeera village near Mogadishu.

Luul's tragic death sparked public outcry and highlighted systemic issues related to gender-based violence in Somalia. Her father, Sheikh Abdiaziz Mohamed, became a vocal advocate for justice, emphasizing the need for systemic change to protect Somali women.

Her story serves as a poignant reminder of the ongoing struggle against domestic violence and the importance of justice and systemic reform in protecting vulnerable individuals.
