Knowles/Name at the time of marriage

[edit]

Geraldo, is there a rule that says a woman, in this case Tina Knowles, has to be addressed by her maiden name when being referred to on their (ex) spouse's page? Because I've never encountered that until recently on Mathew Knowles' and my thought is that it would be best to use the name that she is most commonly known by. Especially since Tina's maiden name is now her much more famous daughter's first name, it could also be confusing for readers who do not know the history of the name and might not take the time to read Tina's page to realize why Mathew's page says "he married Tina Beyonce" in 1980. 2600:1702:2A40:B10:8CAA:6DFC:67:DA15 (talk) 18:14, 21 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I am not aware of a firm rule either way. Generally I've seen a preference for the name of the person before the marriage happened, not the name chosen after the optional name change that might have happened as part of the marriage paperwork or later. Okay, thanks. 2600:1702:2A40:B10:8CAA:6DFC:67:DA15 (talk) 23:31, 21 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Pinging MPFitz1968 as well. I may need eyes here, as an editor continues to insist on including a co-star as a guest star, and we of course don't list co-stars. A few years ago, I marathoned both this and Lab Rats on Disney NOW—I think I even mentioned this to you guys then, including IJBall since he was still around back then—and already verified everything. I even went further and wrote summaries for each episode of Kickin' It. Amaury22:03, 27 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The line is tagged Guest star: so it is fairly obvious that it lists the people credited as a guest star. A co-star is not a guest star. This shouldn't be an issue. Geraldo Perez (talk) 23:26, 27 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

hi Any image was deleted because of you and I still don't understand why I know it's written in your report but I still don't understand, I searched and found out that I can upload images (not licensed for commercial use) to Wikipedia locally because WikiCommons won't accept them so what's the problem? And how can I upload them again without them being deleted? Egyptiankeng (talk) 01:42, 2 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Egyptiankeng: Commons won't accept it as it requires a free-use license for all content. The only way that enwiki can use the image is if it has a non-free-use justification WP:NFUR which that image didn't have. For living people we must have free-use images, basically ones that Commons will accept. Assumption is that we can always get a free-use image of a living person so we can't justify using a non-free image. The current image in the article is properly licensed and is hosted on Commons.
