DYK for 1967 Belvidere tornado

[edit]

On 6 April 2025, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article 1967 Belvidere tornado, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that a survivor of the 1967 Belvidere tornado recalled being inside a school bus when "the tornado picked up the bus and the bus ended up in someone's living room"? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/1967 Belvidere tornado. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, 1967 Belvidere tornado), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Draft:Osama bin Laden and climate change

[edit]

Just letting you know that if you want to work on something utterly insane but still related to weather, I've started Draft:Osama bin Laden and climate change. Would make a great DYK hook. — EF5 17:25, 8 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Depends if we have the prose to get the article long enough to avoid the WP:CFORK concerns. I'd love to see a hook along the lines of "...that climate advocate Osama bin Laden (pictured) wrote a letter to the United States in which he described Obama's leadership against climate change as "a rational decision to save humanity"?", but we'll only get there if we find enough sourcing to get the article away from a split or notability concern. Departure– (talk) 17:41, 8 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
CFORK only applies to text copied over; I[m rewriting it from scratch to avoid that. — EF5 17:42, 8 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Moreso in the spin-off sense of CFORK. However, with the existence of article spinoffs like Environmental activism of Al Gore, such an article could be possible. Departure– (talk) 17:44, 8 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
There's hardly any mention of it at his article, so if I can manage to squeeze enough info out of it hopefully it'll be fine. — EF5 17:47, 8 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
194,000 bytes. That's plenty. From here, I'd support a split on length. The last thing to check off is how many sources we can get to flesh out an article with. Departure– (talk) 17:48, 8 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Quite a few, just look up "Osama bin Laden climate change" on Google. A bit off-topic, but I find it ironic that the guy responsible for unleashing the largest man-made toxic dust cloud in modern history on Americans also was against climate change. — EF5 17:54, 8 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
