Managing a conflict of interest
[edit] Hello, Ballet Dray. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Ballet Tucson, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam#External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Fancy Refrigerator (talk) 00:04, 2 June 2023 (UTC)
- I do not have any direct relationship with Ballet Tucson. I live in the same city as Ballet Tucson, and have only ever seen one show they have performed. I do not take classes there, do not know anyone personally tied to the company, or anything like that. The article is not about me, my family, friends, colleague, company, organization, client or competitor.
- I do not believe I have any conflict of interest in creating the article. I am simply someone who enjoys ballet, and I noticed that the ballet company in my city did not have an article on Wikipedia and chose to create one.
- If there is something else you are concerned about, please let me know. But I truly believe there is no COI for me creating this article. Ballet Dray (talk) 00:54, 2 June 2023 (UTC)
I have sent you a note about a page you started
[edit]Hello, Ballet Dray. Thank you for your work on Ballet Tucson. User:North8000, while examining this page as a part of our page curation process, had the following comments:
Certainly an edge case regarding wp:notability but I'm marking it as reviewed. Most of the references are themselves. Has some borderline-GNG references. To put and keep the article on firmer ground you need to find a few more independent sources that cover them in depth and then develop more content from those type of references. Happy editing!
