Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, סנסן ליאיר, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

Regarding the entry about 'Raphael Delouya'

[edit]

hello User:Jimfbleak, I thank you for your attention to my draft. However, I must tell you that I am not the subject of the entry, and there is no conflict of interest here. If you think there is a tendency towards non-objectivity in the entry, I would be very happy if you could help me. Thank you very much! סנסן ליאיר (talk) 15:05, 27 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your response, you will appreciate that many users are writing about themselves or otherwise have a COI, so you are bound to be asked the question.
Some comments about your draft
  • Sources that are not acceptable include those linked to the person or an associated organisation, press releases, YouTube, IMDB, social media and other sites that can be self-edited, blogs, websites of unknown or non-reliable provenance, and sites that are just reporting what the person claims or interviewing them. I removed the YouTube links, but I don't read Hebrew, so I didn't check the others. However, at some stage a reviewer will check them.
  • It's unlikely that the draft will be accepted without full referencing, so text must be referenced or removed.
  • It helps readers if you provide an English translation of source titles
  • It's not clear to me why he meets the notability guidelines, but then I can't read the refs, so I'll leave that to others
  • Publication lists should give more detail, such as publisher and isbn number. Publications should have no references for the items. They should not be used as references either, since by definition they are not independent third-party sources as required here.
I hope this helps Jimfbleak - talk to me? 15:46, 27 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Apart from adding more references, you seem to have largely ignored the advice above, even reinstating a YouTube link. Why do you think his YouTube channel is an independent third-party source? Or his postings on a prayer site?
As the reviewer below has confirmed, your page as written doesn't show him as meeting our notability criteria. Your text is largely on the lines of "He wrote this... he expressed these religious opinions... he wrote some books" with little evidence that anyone cares about any of this. He may well be notable, but we need to hear what independent sources make of this, not just read a resume. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 12:19, 3 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
First of all, the value of the entry is due to the fact that Rabbi Raphael Deloya publishes his opinions on independent 'third-party' websites, on very famous media sites, such as "Arutz Sheva" Srugim, "Kipa", therefore there is intrinsic value in knowing his biography, meaning the background from which he comes, and his work. Regarding the link on the YouTube site, it is a single link, I didn't think it was forbidden to have even one link to the YouTube site, but I thought that the YouTube channel is a source that even if it is not a 'third party' it still shows something, it shows activity and a variety of works. But let's not argue about the link to YouTube, since if it does not comply with your policy, I will delete it. Regarding the publication on the Tefila website, it should be understood that this is a site that is a third party, Rabbi Deloya has no control over it, there are professionals who examine whether the piyyutim and hazzanut works are at a good enough level to enter this database. I am surprised at you, since this is a national site that is synchronized with the National Library of the State of Israel, and therefore there is no self-promotion here, on the contrary, there is recognition from the site identified with the State of Israel in his works. I would be happy to hear your opinion on my words. Thank you very much. סנסן ליאיר (talk) 11:24, 6 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
User:Jimfbleak, RangersRus; I believe the source from the Piyut and Prayer website is a reliable and excellent source because it meets several important criteria:
  1. Reliability and Authority: The website operates under the auspices of the National Library of Israel, an institution with high reputation and reliability. The National Library is responsible for preserving the spiritual and cultural assets, and any material published on its behalf undergoes rigorous review and editing.
  2. Relevance and Focus: The Piyut and Prayer website, as its name suggests, focuses on the field of piyyut and prayer and is therefore directly relevant to the works of Rabbi Raphael Deloya as a cantor and poet. It offers direct access to his works, which is a great advantage.
  3. Objectivity and Neutrality: The National Library is a public and independent body, and therefore the information on the site is free of biases and extraneous interests. The site presents the works in a professional and documentary way.
  4. Accessibility and Availability: The website is accessible to the general public and allows easy and quick access to the works of Rabbi Deloya from anywhere in the world. Publishing the works on the site ensures their preservation for future generations.
In summary, the Piyut and Prayer website of the National Library is a high-quality, reliable and relevant source of information for the article on Rabbi Raphael Deloya. סנסן ליאיר (talk) 16:14, 9 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The YouTube isn't a big deal, but in 20 years of editing I've only used it once where an offical video from an organisation was the only source I could find for a fact, shouldn't be used for illustrative purposes. As I said, I don't read Hebrew, and I'm happy to be corrected on the status of the prayer site. Perhaps your text should make the official status of this clearer. It's not clear from your text whether a site is curating what he says, or just accepting it. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 16:33, 9 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
