Hi, my name is Rob.
My interests are sailing, age of sail fiction, guitars and real ales.
My specific interest here will be age of sail novels, primarily about the work of Roger Burnage and his series "The Merriman Chronicles" - (See below).
Also I will update / record details about the continuation of the series by Roger's son, Robin Burnage.
To remain transparent and fair, I must publicly declare a conflict of interest.

Roger Burnage (October 1933 - December 2015).
English author, known for "The Merriman Chronicles", a series of sea novels set during the Napoleonic Wars and the Age of Sail.
Roger Burnage grew up in the village of Lymm, a civil parish in Warrington, Cheshire. National service with the RAF took him to Ceylon - Sri Lanka as it is now known - where he worked as a radio mechanic on large transmitters but claimed that "He never once flew in an aeroplane".
After release from service Roger went to work as a draughtsman at Vickers in Manchester, eventually becoming a sales engineer and travelled abroad to Scandinavia and India. It is during this period that he started to read the Hornblower novels by C. S. Forester which sparked his interest in this genre.
Roger eventually settled in North Wales to build a business and raise a family. The thoughts of writing for himself were never far from his mind. Retirement finally gave him the opportunity.
Robin Burnage (October 1969 - )
Despite his best efforts, is still alive, and thinking that living into retirement may now actually be an option. Having sold a perfectly good business in his early forties, he bought a yacht, fitted it out for a world cruise, and set off with little regard for the future. Little things like Brexit, Covid, and then war in eastern Europe facilitated a return to the UK. Having published his Father's novels, he is now trying to continue the series, as per his late Father's wishes.
