MiJin Woo (born December 1, 1978) is a South Korean jazz pianist, composer, and educator. A graduate of Berklee College of Music and Manhattan School of Music, Woo has developed a distinctive musical language characterized by lyrical melodies, intricate rhythmic structures, and layered harmonic narratives.
She has released several albums including Tell Me Your Story (2019), Ordinary People (2020), Azure Walk (2022), and Cosmic Dance (2024), showcasing her exploration of emotional landscapes through modern jazz forms.[1][2][3]
Woo's music often embraces modal influences, asymmetrical rhythms, and subtle temporal shifts, reflecting a blend of contemporary jazz techniques with a deeply personal emotional core.
She has performed extensively in South Korea and abroad, participating in major concerts and collaborations.[4][5] [6]
Her work has been featured and reviewed in leading Korean music publications such as MM Jazz and 경남도민일보. In addition to her performing career, Woo teaches jazz harmony, composition, and piano at several universities in South Korea. She also runs the YouTube channel JazzGraphy, where she shares creative approaches to jazz performance and jazz theory education.
