Josh Fairhurst (born June 10, 1987) is an American game developer and entrepreneur, best known for founding Limited Run Games as well as developing the video games Saturday Morning RPG and Breach & Clear (video game).
Career
[edit]Josh Fairhurst started his career in the video game industry by working on Gears of War 2 in 2008 as a Game Tester at Epic Games, while he was in college at North Carolina State University.[2]
During his final year of college, Josh's senior game project, Terraform, was selected as a finalist in the Serious Games Showcase at the 2010 Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference in Orlando, FL.[3]
In 2010, he founded Mighty Rabbit Studios during the inaugural session of Joystick Labs with the intention of developing a game called Saturday Morning RPG.[4] He later went on to develop several more projects with the company. Upon learning that the company was nearly out of money, Fairhurst took a gamble and started Limited Run Games in late 2015 with the hope that it could save Mighty Rabbit Studios, while also preserving the games he had developed.[5]
Since founding the company, Josh has served as the CEO of Limited Run Games. He has lead the company through over 400 physical releases and sold over 1,000,000 games.[6] He has collaborated with partners like Epic Games[7], Oddworld Inhabitants[8], Lucasfilm[9], and SNK[10] to release physical versions of their digital games. In 2019, under Josh's leadership, Limited Run Games was ranked #34 on the Inc. (magazine) Inc. 5000 list of the fastest-growing publicly held small companies in the United States, with a revenue of $20.8 million dollars and a three year growth of 6,388%.[11]
