Synopsis

In the crumbling underbelly of Rome, Lavinia—a young Romani woman rooted in tradition but driven by quiet resolve—fights to carve out a life of dignity amid the chaos and forgotten classes. While her brothers hustle to survive, Lavinia stays on the straight path, dreaming of something more than scraps and suspicion.

When a stolen dog, a sacred rosary, and a stash of silver spark a violent misunderstanding, Lavinia is pulled into a spiral of accusations that don't quite add up. Plagued by superstitions of the evil eye and the grinding realities of street life, she longs to reclaim control over her fate.

Zingarella is a gritty, darkly comic tale of neglected citizens, resilience and the search for self in a city that would rather look away. In the alleyways and marketplaces of a Rome rarely seen, one woman dares to stand firm while everything else runs fast and crooked. Through sharp humor, moments of hope and a keen eye for injustice, it reminds us that even on the city's margins, dreams smolder, love falters and survival demands cunning and sacrifice.
