Edgar Noble Pace (15 January 1942 – 14 June 2025) was a Pakistani Christian missionary, radio and media evangelist, and long-serving Director of the Pakistan Christian Recording Ministries (PCRM). A pioneer in Christian media outreach in Pakistan, he played a foundational role in the development of Urdu-language Christian broadcasts and the production of the complete Urdu Audio Bible. He was known for his decades-long service to the church, his leadership in various Christian organizations, and his mentorship of future Christian leaders.

Early Life and Education

Pace was born in Chinote, in the pre-partition Indo-Pak region, to Maxwell Allan Pace and Dolly Allan Pace. Following his father's death in 1961, he took on significant family responsibilities at a young age. He received his early education at Church Mission School (CTI)[4] in Sialkot and earned his Bachelor’s degree from Gordon College, Rawalpindi. He later completed a Master's degree in Psychology at Islamia College[3] (now part of the University of the Punjab), Lahore. While at Islamia College, he captained the college basketball team and led them to victory in the Inter-College Tournament.

In addition to academic qualifications, he completed a two-year theological program at the Discipleship Theological Center[5] (DTC) in Singapore and received media and theological training in both Pakistan and the United Kingdom.

Ministry and Career

[edit]

Transition to Christian Ministry

[edit]

Initially employed in the Pakistani government sector, Pace left public service to join full-time Christian ministry. He began working with Pakistan Christian Recording Ministries (PCRM) in Faisalabad, where he was mentored by Mr. John Wilder. Under his leadership, PCRM expanded significantly in both its national and international outreach.

Contributions to Media Evangelism

[edit]

Pace was instrumental in producing and distributing Christian radio content across Pakistan in multiple regional languages. His most notable projects include the development and narration of the complete Urdu Audio Bible, and the launch of the long-running radio program "Raah-e-Zindagi" (formerly Zindagi Ke Sang), which aired through FEBA Radio.

He utilized media tools to make Bible teachings accessible to the visually impaired and those unable to read, extending the Gospel message beyond literacy barriers.

Leadership Roles

[edit]

Pace served on several boards and committees, including:

  • Board Member, FEBA Radio Ministry
  • Board Member, Forman Christian College (Lahore)
  • Chairman, Education Board of the United Presbyterian Church of Pakistan
  • Board Member, Dar-ul-Hikmat Theological Institute
  • Chairman, Pak Mission Society

He also traveled internationally, advocating for Christian media ministry and building global partnerships to support Christian work in Pakistan.

Church Involvement

[edit]

Pace served for many years as an elder at First Presbyterian Church, Faisalabad, where he contributed to worship leadership, church governance, Sunday School education, and financial management. He worked closely with Rev. Emric Joseph and was widely respected for his guidance and service within the congregation.

Family

[edit]

Edgar Pace married Mary Elson in 1971. The couple had three children: Fauzia Michael, Nabeel Edgar Pace, and Pastor Adeel Pace[2]. His children and their families continue to be active in Christian ministry. He was known for his commitment to nurturing a Christ-centered household and was regarded as a spiritual mentor to many.

Legacy

[edit]

Pace passed away on June 14, 2025, in Lahore at the age of 83. His contributions to Christian media and leadership development in Pakistan are widely acknowledged. His narration of the Urdu Audio Bible remains one of his most lasting legacies.

He was appointed Honorary Chairman of Call To Worship Ministries[6], based in Dubai, where his son Pastor Adeel Pace[2], daughter Fauzia Michael, and their spouses continue to serve in preaching and worship ministries.
