Two Prosecutors is an upcoming historical drama film written and directed by Sergei Loznitsa, based on the novel of the same name by Georgy Demidov. The film will have its world premiere in the main competition of the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, where it was nominated for the Palme d'Or.[1]

Premise

In 1937, a young Soviet prosecutor comes across a letter written by a prisoner. Believing the man to be the victim of NKVD corruption, the prosecutor seeks out justice with the Procurator General.[2]

Principal photography took place in Riga in October 2024.[3][4][5]

Release

The film will be screened in competition at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival.[6][7]
