Tides of Annihilation [a] is an upcoming fantasy action-adventure game developed and published by the Chinese studio Eclipse Glow Games. The game is inspired by Arthurian legend. It follows Gwendolyn, the sole survivor of a siege on London by an Outworld invasion, who discovers and wields a mysterious power that enables her to command the legendary Knights of the Round Table.

Tides of Annihilation is scheduled to be released for PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S. The release date has not been announced yet.

Gameplay

Tides of Annihilation is an action-adventure game.[1][5][6] It is played in single-player mode.[2][5][7]

The player controls Gwendolyn, who wields a mysterious power that enables her to command the legendary Knights of the Round Table.[1] The combat system features over ten spectral knights, each offering a unique fighting style.[1] In addition, she can use her fists, swords, and bows.[8]

The game incorporates light role-playing elements, including levels and skill trees.[8] The character customization includes both battle-related elements such as knight configuration, weapon changes, equipment and accessory configuration, and more, as well as outwardly visible elements such as clothing, hair color, and makeup.[9]

There are difficulty options.[8]

Tides of Annihilation is a fantasy game that blends elements of medieval fantasy with a contemporary setting.[1] It is inspired by Arthurian legend.[1][7] For instance, it features battles against bosses who are based on the Knights of the Round Table lore.[1]

The game takes place in the modern city of London and the mythical realm of Avalon.[1][5] It is set in the aftermath of an Outworld invasion that devastated and distorted the city.[10] It features Colossal Knights—towering entities that serve as vertical challenges that can be explored, interacted with, and ultimately battled—who roam the city's environment.[1]

Kun Fu described it as "Our game world reimagines London as a sprawling battleground where modern ruins coexist with echoes of a medieval past. Imagine the city as a giant tree, its branches representing iconic districts and landmarks—each twisted and transformed by the otherworldly invaders."[11]

Characters

Tides of Annihilation features Gwendolyn (Jennifer English) as the protagonist and Mordred (Aliona Baranova) as an adversary.[6][12]

As noted by Ultra Console Game, in the February 2025 announcement trailer, a figure resembling Guan Yu briefly appears as a large statue among Chinese artifacts in a museum exhibition hall and a mounted warrior in an unfamiliar landscape.[13]

Plot

Gwendolyn is the sole survivor of a siege on London by an Outworld invasion.[1] In the wake of the attack, she discovers a mysterious power that enables her to command the legendary Knights of the Round Table.[1] Driven by the desire to save her sister and vengeance, she sets out on a quest to confront and defeat the demi-gods of Avalon.[1]

Tides of Annihilation is a game developed and published by Eclipse Glow Games.[5][14] The studio is based in Chengdu, Sichuan, China.[5] The game is the studio's debut title.[8] It was invested in by Tencent.[8]

Eclipse Glow Games co-CEO & COO Ary Chen, during interviews at the Game Developers Conference 2025, stated that Tides of Annihilation has been in development for three years.[15][16] In one of the interviews, he remarked that "Because the legend of King Arthur is a Western story, as a Chinese studio, we need to think about how to reinterpret the culture and how to tell a good story with it. That is something we are constantly working on. We want to truly respect the British culture and the legends of King Arthur, so in order to tell a good story, we’ve been referencing a lot of books and materials and consulting with experts in these fields. Last year, the team actually went to London to do a small-scale playtest and they also did sightseeing to actually see these historic locations."[15]

Tides of Annihilation is built on Unreal Engine 5.[17]

Chen said that from an art and design perspective, they sought to incorporate an ink wash style, which is an East Asian style, and a sense of withering in the overall feeling of the game.[7]

Release

Tides of Annihilation is scheduled to be released for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.[1][2][18] The release date has not been announced yet.[1][2][18]

Eclipse Glow Games released a trailer announcing Tides of Annihilation during Sony's State of Play on 12 February 2025.[19][20] At gamescom 2024, before the public announcement of the game, the studio shared to a media outlet that the game has a tentative release window of 2026.[8]

Eclipse Glow Games plans to expand the property to other mythologies across the world depending on the reception of this game.[17] Future projects would retain the concept of Outworld invasions but feature different protagonists.[8]
