Notability
[edit]Why do we have so many articles about restaurants? They can't all be notable. This is an encyclopaedia, not Tripadvisor. We should delete them all. Richard75 (talk) 11:18, 29 December 2020 (UTC)
- @Richard75: I've been working on PDX restaurant articles for a while, and actually in the last few months I've promoted ~20 to GA status. I don't create pages for restaurants unless I believe notability criteria are met, and I think you'd be surprised how many restaurants have been reviewed by multiple publications including The Oregonian, Willamette Week, Portland Mercury, Portland Tribune, etc, not to mention many other outlets like Eater, Thrillist, Zagat, Zomato, etc.
- Here are some of the articles I've promoted to GA status:
Boxer Ramen
Brix Tavern
Byways Cafe
Country Bill's
Davis Street Tavern
Delta Cafe
Dime Store (Portland, Oregon)
Esparza's
Gypsy Restaurant and Velvet Lounge
Hobo's
Nostrana (restaurant)
Papi Chulo's
Pied Cow Coffeehouse
Republic Cafe and Ming Lounge
Rimsky-Korsakoffee House
Roman Candle (Portland, Oregon)
Southeast Grind
Starky's
The Original Dinerant
The Parish
The Roxy (Portland, Oregon)
XLB (Portland, Oregon)
- If you have doubts about the notability of a particular restaurant, please share your concerns on the article's talk page, before nominating for deletion. I'd prefer to collect sources and expand pages without having to drop what I'm doing and scramble just to meet the AfD deadline. I should also note, I am still working on PDX restaurant articles and intend to promote another batch to Good status in the near future.
