This is the standard infobox for "Country in the Eurovision Song Contest Year" pages and uses the {{Infobox song contest national year}} template. The box to the right is an example. You can copy-and-paste the code below, adding the info on the country and year you choose to write about.

The infobox code should be placed at the top of the article before all writing, though it should be after any maintenance templates.

Code

[edit]

Most articles should only need the following fields. Do not remove fields from this list when the value is unknown; in that case the values should be left blank. Please note that the field names are case-sensitive.

{{Infobox song contest national year <!-- See Wikipedia:WikiProject Song Contest -->

Year

[edit]

The Year field is for the year of the country's participation being referred to in the article. The template will look back up to 2 year and back up to years automatically and adds these years to the bottom of the template. If there are instances were a country missed more than 2 years in a row and you need to reflect this on the template, then add |Prev = and |Next = to the bottom of the template. This will allow you to manually input the year.

For example, the Czech Republic missed the 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014 contests, so you need the infobox for Czech Republic in the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 to enable you to bypass these years. Using the following method will let you do this.

If the participation is either the country's first or the most recent, then the Prev or Next parameters can be set to none. This prevents the infobox from linking to the next or previous article, for example

{{Infobox song contest national year <!-- See Wikipedia:WikiProject -->
| Year = 2015
| Contest =
| Broadcaster =
| Country = Czech Republic
| Flag variant =
| Selection process =
| Selection date =
| Song =
| Artist =
| Writer =
| SF result =
| Final result =
| Song =
| Prev = 2009
| Next =
}}

Contest

[edit]

The Contest field should only be used when the infobox will not be used on a Eurovision Song Contest page. If it is for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, type "Junior", otherwise leave it blank.

Broadcaster

[edit]

The Broadcaster field is for the participating broadcaster entering the contest that year representing the country referred to in the article. Put the broadcaster's full name preferably, followed by its abbreviation in parenthesis. Make sure the full name and its spelling are the ones used by the broadcaster that year.

Country

[edit]

The Country field is for the country being referred to in the article that year. Put the countries name, without linking and using a flag template, the infobox will automatically produce the flag through coding and the link to the article of the country in the contest.

Example:
|Country=Bosnia and Herzegovina
 Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Flag variant

[edit]

The Flag variant field is for displaying historically correct flags for the country in the infobox. By default, the template uses the current flag of the country. Put the year of the outdated flag's introduction for it to display the correct flag.

Example:
|Country=Bosnia and Herzegovina
|Flag variant=1992
 Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Selection process

[edit]

The Selection process field is to specify the type of selection process held that year in order to choose the entry. The possible entries are:

In cases where a mix of selection formats were used to select an entry, for example where an artist was internally selected by the broadcaster but the song was chosen through a national final, both methods can be listed by using the following format:

'''Artist:''' Internal selection<br />'''Song:''' National final

Selection date

[edit]

The Selection date field is for the date that the selection process was held on; do not link this date. For national finals only one date should be listed; if a national selection process involves multiple shows, only the final date should be listed. For internal selections, or hybrid formats, the artist and song dates may be listed separately if the announcements and/or releases were held separately:

'''Artist:''' 5 March 2025<br />'''Song:''' 10 March 2025

If the Selection process field is set to "Internal selection", the field label will automatically change to "Announcement date"; the label can also be manually changed as necessary.

Song

[edit]

The Song field is for the song that was sent to compete. Songs are always surrounded by quotation marks which are added by the template and not italics.

Artist

[edit]

The Artist field is for the singer(s) or group that was chosen to perform the song competing in the contest.

Writer

[edit]

The Writer field is for the composers/lyricists of the song chosen to compete in the contest. For songs which have multiple songwriter credits, please each songwriter in the box using the {{Unbulleted list}} template. If only one songwriter is listed, add writer_single = y to the infobox to change the label to the singular.

Listing multiple entries

[edit]

In cases where two songs represented the same country at a given contest, e.g. the Eurovision Song Contest 1956, both songs should be listed separately. Use the Song2, Artist2 and Writer2 fields within the infobox for this purpose. Including these parameters will automatically update the infobox headers to reflect the dual entries.

SF result

[edit]

The SF result field is for the placement of the country in the semi-final. In italics write either Qualified or Failed to qualify followed in parenthesis by the placing and points received. If the song Failed to qualify, only the placing is necessary in the parenthesis.

  • Qualified (1st, 156 points)
  • Failed to qualify (19th)

Final result

[edit]

The Final result field is for the song's placement in the final. List the placing followed by a comma and then the points received. If the song failed to qualify, then leave the field blank.

  • 3rd, 218 points

Usage notes

[edit]

The infobox should be placed at the top of the page and no line should be skipped after it. Place it after any maintenance tags, but before the main text of the page.
