This data template provides the current number of member state leaders on the European Council who are affiliated to each European political party. It is based on Template:EUCommissionercountEuropeanParty, which lists instead the number of EU Commissioners affiliated to European parties.
The source data is from Wikidata, which uses the relevant pages of European political parties, including:
- EPP: https://www.epp.eu/parties-and-partners
- PES: https://pes.eu/about-us/leadership/
- ALDE: https://www.aldeparty.eu/leadership
- ECR: https://ecrparty.eu/about/
Usage
{{EUCouncilcountEuropeanParty|European party acronym}}→ Number of Member State leaders on the European Council affiliated to the European party- The current European party acronyms are: ALDE, ECPM, ECR, EDP, EFA, EGP, EL, EPP, ID, and PES.[1] Additionally, values for independent politicians (IND) and unaffiliated leaders (UNA) are provided.
- For each entry, the template also provides two additional numbers to automatically populate the relevant bar chart in the article on the European Council; these are "XXX_BAR" (the value used to display the bar) and "XXX_PERCENT" (the percentage of European Council membership). For instance, EPP is currently at 11, EPP_BAR at 407, and EPP_PERCENT at 40.7.
