Not yet a full review, but I do not see how this hook meets WP:DYKINT. It doesn't seem very interesting to non-baseball fans, as well as to most of the world where baseball is at best a niche sport. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 09:32, 8 February 2025 (UTC)
- @Butterdiplomat: Will you be able to propose a new hook? Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 22:35, 13 February 2025 (UTC)
- ALT1: ... that
San Francisco Giantsprospect Yang Nien-hsi was the first University of Taipei player to sign with a MLB team since C. C. Lee in 2008?
- Maybe it needs a shortening or a rewording to make it more appealing to non-sports fans? Right now there are too many blue links and that will likely drive interest way from the bolded link. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 23:31, 17 February 2025 (UTC)
- Just revised ALT above directly to shorten a bit. Happy to rework but let me know if this works for you now. Butterdiplomat (talk) 01:16, 18 February 2025 (UTC)
@Butterdiplomat: Long enough, new enough. QPQ unnecessary and Earwig checks out. Lead could easily take another sentence or two but that's not a DYK criterion and I see no other reason why this might require a maintenance template. ALT1 is better but I think adding when Yang signed would add interest.--Launchballer 10:07, 26 February 2025 (UTC)

- Based on the feedback, proposing ALT2: ... that, in 2024, pitcher Yang Nien-hsi became the first University of Taipei player to sign with a MLB team since C. C. Lee in 2008?
- If you're alright with the slightly tweaked ALT2a: ... that in 2024, Yang Nien-hsi became the first University of Taipei player to sign with a Major League Baseball team since 2008?, I'll go ahead and approve this.--Launchballer 12:43, 28 February 2025 (UTC)
- Yes, looks great to me. Thank you. Butterdiplomat (talk) 16:52, 28 February 2025 (UTC)
