Template:Bot use warning/doc

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This template is placed on category pages and in template documentation to warn about bots, depending on those categories and templates. These pages with this template will be added to Category:Pages monitored by Wikipedia bots.

Parameters

[edit]
 • Use |subcats=yes to show "This category and subcategories are used by one or more bots." (technically it outputs "This namespace and subcategories are used by one or more bots.") instead of "This namespace are used by one or more bots."
 • Use |bots=*User:ExampleBot operated by User:Example to list bot usernames (alternatively |bots=Example can be used)
 • Use |namespace=infobox to override the |namespace= name and show "This infobox is...", etc. Other values can be substituted here.

Breaking changes

[edit]

In the context of this notice, "breaking changes" are any changes to a template that change how it is used, for example adding, removing, or renaming any parameters, or changing the required format of the input to a parameter.

For notice templates (like Category:User warning templates), rewordings of the template's contents that change the tone or central message of the template are also considered a breaking change.
